Merry's life began as a scientist who had a minor interest in the occult. Normal science seemed to have lost it's spark for her; she craved to break into areas that her colleagues didn't want to tread. Even modifying her body to have reptilian and regenerative properties wasn't enough for Merry's curiosity. Occult and magick were considered pseudoscience to most of them - but not to her. She considered it untapped potential, and she was going to take advantage of it.

Merry spent months of her time and work on studying the occult, most of it in secret. She dug into old records and books. She shifted through the journals of those before her. They held infinite knowledge, and infinite warnings, but Merry paid no mind. She was here for progress, she wasn't here for safety.

When Merry began her journey into the occult, many of her colleages were worried - especially when they saw the extreme effects. Monsters from other worlds stepping through portals, items floating at the flick of a wrist, runes that could change a person's entire personality with a few strokes on their skin - the power that Merry had tapped into was unlimited and powerful, but it was obvious she had become blinded to danger. She started dragging others into her work, and her coworkers became a means to an end, regardless of risk.

Her cruetly came to bite her in the ass later on, when Merry had caught the attention of Beezlebub. The demon had appeared suddenly and violently, latching to Merry as a new host. Merry tried to fight back, and tried to keep control, but she was swiftly punished - her jaws immediately torn wide open. With the permanent scar on her face that never quite fully healed, Merry became a recluse. She was fearful of the others seeing her face, of the questions they would ask, and the inevitable reality of telling them what she had done.

Beezlebub was not a kind demon. Hunger cursed Merry - to the point she had to kidnap and kill her coworkers. She despised her actions and what she was becoming, but Merry had no other choice; it was either she committed murder, or Beezlebub would take her control and do it, instead. Either way, blood was on her hands, and regret was on her conscious.

The reality of what she had done to herself came to a head when her beloved assisstant - Ritz - became a victim. Merry had tried to do everything in her power to prevent Ritz' death, to the point she chained herself up in the basement after hours. However, Beezlebub wanted to hurt Merry, and Ritz was the perfect way to make a wound. Merry was forced to the back of her mind, a prisoner in her own body and forced to witness her own transformation and slaughterfest. She was left alone with what Beezlebub did, forced to come to terms with the fact it was her hands that Ritz died by.

Merry had fled her work, and fled her old life. She chose to live in the woods, finding bare sustenance in the wildlife there. Most of her time was spent wandering as the beast she could turn into - with a few unlucky cases of hikers and campers crossing her path. Hunters and law enforcement tried to track the beast, but Merry was too smart for her own good, and Beezlebub wasn't going to let her throw her life away.

There was times that Merry tried to live a normal life. She tried to come into a town as a traveler, and most of the time she was lucky. She could find a side job, a lover, and a hope - but Beezlebub was always there to crush it. Merry was usually lucky enough to get away before the damage could get worse, but she always left damage in her wake - motherless children, heartbroken lovers, and too many questions to count.

The only time there seemed to be a stop to Beezlebub's plans was when Merry met Gage Sangrose - an enigmatic fellow who happened to work at a side job she took on. The two hit it off almost immediately, enraptued in each other as much as they were enraptured in their work. It was unclear whether Merry's attraction to him came from desperate escapism or from genuine affection, but Gage became a wrench in Beezlebub's plans. Beezlebub was eager to cause pain to Merry again, so it made her devour Gage. What Beezlebub didn't expect was Gage to push out of her body, and reveal himself to not be human at all; Gage was a shapeshifter made of dark matter, and untouchable by Beezlebub's strength, especially through Merry.

Merry was ecstatic for multiple reasons, but the main one was she finally had something in her life that Beezlebub could not take away from her. She was able to relax in the comfort of Gage's arms, especially after they both left their job for greener pastures. Every attempt Beezlebub made to kill Gage just resulted in Merry splayed across the floor, exhausted, while Gage wiped her saliva off of him. The two ended up having a happy life, with children to call their own. It seemed like the end of Merry's torment.

Beezlebub still had tricks up their sleeve. Merry's children became a new target, something else to possess and something else to kill. While Gage could handle being devoured, his children were still partly human. Beezlebub found a new way to drive paranoia, fear, and submission into Merry's mind. She became petrified at the thought of her children ending up like Ritz. Merry, in a final act of defiance against Beezlebub, fled her family once more. Merry thought she was ahead of Beezlebub, not realizing the demon wanted her to be isolated again.

Merry's hell had returned: being stuck in the woods, trying to make new lives and failing, and getting icreasingly entangled in Beezlebub's web. Her chances at starting new were especially shattered when she was impregnated by Beezlebub, and bore a child that she ended up abandoning. It felt like all hope was lost, and she had begun to resign herself to her new life, until a new face entered her life: the dirt-smeared young face of a boy named Gabriel.

Just like Gage, Gabriel was different. While he definitely wasn't invincible to Beezlebub, he wasn't clueless to the occult. In fact, it turned out that this child had a unique ability to see the other side, and interact with it. Merry saw how terrified he was, and ended up inadvertantly adopting him. She trained him against the vile and darkness, using her knowledge of the occult to aid him. She saw him as a chance to free herself, and that came true when Beezlebub turned her against her own student. Unlucky for Beezlebub, Gabriel had a combination of skills, unlikely allies, and extreme hardheadedness. With Beezlebub finally banished from her body, Merry was finally free.

Merry's story now resides in the chapters of retribution and repayment. Whenever she is not resting in her new estate hidden in the forests, she's retracing her steps, reconnecting with loved ones - and facing the effects of her actions. While she knows she'll never be able to reverse what she did, she hopes she can heal what is still bleeding - and prevent more tragedies by her hands.
