The reciprocity of emotion in this world is an unreasonable expectation, and I am the unreasonable one."

Iris is a highly moral entity connected to divinity and higher self who vows to use the power of her desire for all that is ideally perfect and good, such as honest, intimate love, and the accepting of responsibility. The weight she puts upon herself to do this is so great that her visceral self is a prisoner of her own ideology. The beautiful dark lace she wears is a sentiment of these intricacies. She indulges in desire not only as a sensual figure, but as a lust for action, change, and integration. She and her alter, Oculeil, share their struggle for power and the power of the carnal body as it shapes the world around them.

Always curious to understand the world around her, Iris is a pantheist at heart with a deep many philosophies on how to access the collective wealth that is the unconscious core of the universe. That said, she is not unscientific. She loves to study the natural sciences in her free time, which she believes goes hand-in-hand with her metaphysical beliefs that the body is the portal to divinity.

Due to her inhibited and subdued nature, Iris takes great care to always be formal, cautious and courteous when interacting with others, taking great care to leave the greatest of her eccentricities to the imagination. She does not speak with haste, and may pause a moment to gather her thoughts before offering a reply, or look off into the distance to collect her thoughts. This reserved attitude also extends to her actions, as she takes her time so as not to boil over with the ferocity of her own demands. When she does, she can act as a domineering, righteous and precious figure in her time of stress, leveraging her beauty and vanity to exact cruel impulses and passions from deep within.

She does everything in her power to fight this side of herself, and she often feels overwhelming guilt for it, especially when she cannot or will not compromise. As such, she takes her time to truly open up emotionally to others, but when she does, she will spare no altruistic, martyr's act for them in their time of need.

INTRODUCTION

Iris is the apparition of a woman who appears to Oculeil in a dream, as Oculeil's potential self, a yet unrealized self--one of the many that do exist and are rejected by Oculeil as flawed, fallacious images. Despite Oculeil's delusions, Iris is a tangible image that occupies the space in Oculeil's past, present, and future recollections. It is a fact that Iris has always been, and always will be, and Oculeil has no choice but let Iris begrudgingly exist in its mind until it can cast her out.

Eventually she is unable to remain with Oculeil in their plane of existence, and Iris takes on a human doppelganger form, impersonating a human as Desire personified.

Oculeil

[ Self Parent ] Oculeil is the entity that brought Iris into existence after the creature underwent an epiphanic paradigm change, a rouse of dormant spiritual energy, suddenly realized after years of being in a state of blissful transcendence. Oculeil believes it is possible that Iris is an ancestor, or who It (Oculeil) was in a past life, but Iris asserts that she has been ever-present and is the manifestation of once unrealized potential. In an effort to return to Its metaphysical suspension, Oculeil puts Iris out of its body and mind for as long as it can before Iris reappears to threaten the fragility of Its low-consumption anatomical system with Iris's increasing carnal and material demands.

Tom Wiltse

[ Colleague, Friend ] Iris meets and works with Tom at a local news bureau. Despite being a new hire in a different department, Tom is captivated quickly by Iris and tries to play his attention and acts of service towards her as just being part of his gentlemanly nature. However, Tom cannot hide his palpable limerence behind his polite professionalism. Cautious, yet her interests piqued, Iris offers him her support as a guiding force, tasking his willingness to please her as personal challenges for himself.

TRIVIA FACTS

31189032_OPUoFxYgrIATOfb.png?1612901705
  • In the same way that Guiek shares a soul with Kirill, Iris is a character progressed from Aine, as they share the same piety and quiet, stern tone. Not limited to these differences, Iris is a corrupt version of Aine with more antagonistic villain potential.
  • Iris's energy is based off of Enneagram Type 1 when it theoretically disintegrates to Type 4. Many of the flaws of the two types, in particular the mutual frustration they share for their idealistic expectations and their thinly veiled self-absorbed tendencies, shine through in her as she attempts to grow as both a person and as a surrealistic entity.
  • Iris symbolizes the need to heal and to assume things for oneself, even if selfishly. She is the celebration of admitting our selfish, human nature and our faults, and learning through humility and the courage to simply exist, both with and without shame.
  • As I am wont to do, I often create characters playing around non-seriously with ideas from other franchises first. Iris was actually created as a Pokemon character, as I was very into playing Pokemon Sword during the 2020 Coronavirus lockdown. She was a Vintage Sleuth pokemon named "Sleustresse", a Psychic/Ghost type who specializes in status effects. I love it when something comes out of just messing around!
