"Why am I alive?"
Puck and Mason are basically two different entities that share the same body. If one of them dies, they both die so I've progressively learned to coexist.
Mason is very introverted and pessimistic, wanting to avoid interacting with people as much as he can. His very big stature makes him intimidating (he's 6'7 feet tall) and he has a resting ‘come near me and I’ll kill you’ face. But truly, he can be very patient and kind person.
Puck (the white rabbit thing) is quite sadistic and selfish. They often like to tease and put down Mason out of their own boredom. They have violent tendencies and crave the blood of other beings.
Mason used to be part of a dangerous organization as their right-hand man who "takes care" of trouble for them. He planned to leave them when he started feeling guilt for the things he had done but they killed him before he could.
His body was found by a rogue scientist, Dr. Rowan Karter. Rowan planned to use his body for their experiments.
"Puck" is an organism that Rowan manufactured
They planned to use Mason's body as another "test vessel" for Puck. The experiment was a success but Mason was brought back to life as a result and remains the default consciousness of the body.
With this second chance at life, Mason feels immense guilt. A kind of "survivor's guilt" because he gets to live again while the people he hurt don’t. Since his revival, he has become something of a recluse. He's very quiet, observant, and pessimistic, seeking to avoid normal people and confrontation as much as possible.
Puck is its own organism and has their own consciousness. They are essentially a parasite that has invaded Mason's body. They can take over and control Mason's body when Mason lets them or during moments of mental or emotional weakness for Mason. They have instinctual murderous intent that Mason tries to suppress.
Mason tries to use this to his advantage to kill criminals, but there have been... casualties
Puck doesn't usually speak out loud but when they do it's in broken, shaky sentences with a deep, raspy, creepy voice.
