Eva Small

M███y Eva Small, a young girl with a passion for science working in her family's coffee shop, is offered a job by her high school science teacher—and best friend Will's father. She would be a test subject and get to see everything they were studying up close. She accepts, hoping it's a step towards fulfilling her dream of becoming a scientist.

The lab is eventually purged of all the scientists by their own creations (which may or may not have had something to do with Eva) and is left with two test subjects, Eva and Will. Eva proceeds to run the facility on her own, using the remaining materials to learn and conduct her own tests.

Many years have passed, and Eva has since discovered that she's immortal (or, something like it. When she dies, time jumps back to a point where her death is preventable, like checkpoints in a video game) and that she tends to black out and end up in different universes every so often. The ongoing story is of Eva dealing with whatever particular universe she gets sent to.

BACKGROUND/TRIVIA???

She had a good relationship with her mother, and eventually feels extremely guilty for just leaving a perfectly good, loving home. She fails to realize that it was mostly her teachers fault for basically kidnapping her, and she can't find the courage to go back and explain to her mother, even as an adult. Her father died shortly after she was born. She doesn't feel a whole lot about that, so little that she occasionally even makes jokes about it.

Her biological family was pretty big, with lots of cousins and uncles and aunts and such. One of her uncles taught her german when she was a child, for the purpose of swearing without getting in trouble, but Eva was intrigued and wanted to learn more. (Currently, she can speak Spanish, English, German, and American Sign Language.) The same uncle was also a heavy drinker and, although he never harmed Eva directly, caused her strong aversion to alcohol and drunks. Eva only drinks in canon once, after being rejected by the very first person she's ever asked out.

Being an astute reader and bored with all her books, Eva broke into her mother's books at a very young age, and happened to read a book about cannibalism, leading to a phobia of being eaten. Just watching someone eat meat is enough to panic her, and she tends to avoid restaurants as a result. (She eventually gets over phobia in adulthood, through "exposure therapy," technically.)
