The Lantern Of Death

A cursed object bound to a cursed person's soul. If the lantern is not fed with lost souls, it slowly eats away at the user's lifeforce. The lantern grants the user with the ability to see and interact with the dead. Most of these lost souls will not go willingly and must be helped along by completing tasks.

When the Lantern of Death consumes a lost soul, the soul is transferred back into the cycle of rebirth. There are more than one Lantern's in the world. They all consume lost things for different purposes.

Life After The Curse

Laluna is somewhat grateful for the Lantern's curse. She is now able to experience the outside world to her heart's content. Her princess' title was revoked and the Royal Family paid a large sum to have her never return to the castle. Laluna cast from her home, stumbles her way through living life with commonfolk. Her reading and studying pays off when it comes to economics and trade. But she lacks the experience to socially interact with others properly.

Laluna is not able to stay in one place for long periods of time, due to the curse.

Story So Far

Laluna has found a ghostly companion to travel with. The Lantern of Death is guiding her to the neighboring country of Holdebrand. She is being trailed by a group of bandits looking to kidnap her for sale on the black market. Through wit and the help of the dead, she is just barely evading the bandits.

Laluna is hoping to lose their trail through the Bogs of Fog. The dangerous swamps are hard to navigate and Laluna has been heavily injured. A siren from the depths of the bog has rend the flesh on her back. Looking for aid, she stumbles towards a witch's cottage.

Prince Gideon
Older Brother

Prince Gideon is the only family member who treats Laluna like family should. Growing up, they would both sneak through the hidden pathways beneath the castle, and play in the mazes of the gardens. As the prodigal son, Gideon was paraded around Falnor as the next in line for the throne.

Their mother the Queen, would stop at nothing to keep them apart. Even so, Prince Gideon's servants would sneak letters and small gifts to Laluna when the two would be seperated.

After the curse was transferred, Gideon feels a deep guilt. Gideon has not seen his sister since the initial incident.

Aldueth
Traveling Companion

Aldeuth, an elder being. Follows Laluna on her journey as a companion. After Laluna, saves Aldeuth from a terrible fate, he has sworn loyalty till the end of time.

Enjoys having someone to talk to even if Laluna doesn't have the most common sense.

Queen Averly
Mother

Queen Averly dispises Laluna. Ever since she saw the black of her fur, she has wanted nothing to do with her. She finds joy in making Laluna' life difficult by ostracizing and manipulating the young princess' feelings. Laluna tries to avoid her mother as much as possible but her interaction with her brother Gideon raises tensions in the castle.

The Queen is more than thrilled Laluna is no longer in the castle walls.

The King is unable to connect with his quiet daughter due to his blunt and brash manner. He truly cares for his daughter but with the throne on the line, he has no choice but to cast his child into the wilds.

Atreous wishes he can one day find a way to break the Lantern's Curse but with war with nighboring countries on the horizon he must put his own country above family.
