He has 2 lives (in the devil and angel realm) he was born to do bad stuff but once he saw the angel realm area when he was younger he wanted to do good, once he was older he decided to go in the angel realm. 

But once he got there the angel captured him and put him in a cail (since he was a demon), he pleaded the angles to let him out and that he wanted to be good. So, they let him out and decided to trust him. Lucifer didnt know how his father and mother would feel about this so he decided to not tell them about his 2nd life. 

He sneaks back and forth to the devil realm and the angel realm to live both lives.
