[He/Him - They/Them]

Nordsvensk-King-011921.png
  •  Name   'King', 'King of the Forest'
  •  Age   38
  •  Height   8'2
  •  Species   Nordsvensk Unicorn
  •  Sexuality   Pansexual
  •  Personality

    • King is what one might consider a 'Himbo'.
  • He lacks significant and articulate intelligence but more than makes up for it with his sweet and noble demeanor. Mute, King tends to let his actions explain his intent and attempts his best to appear as non-threatening to any wayward soul that passes through Steelehom as he possibly can.

He prides himself on his pacifistic nature, refusing to engage in any kind of violent or outwardly threatening behavior except in the extremely rare case where his mere presence isn't enough to stop further violence. He will often place himself between two combatants, utilizing his intimidating size to bring things to a swift end without the need for a fight. If necessary, they will absorb body blows until the attacker is too exhausted to continue, and then escort the victim to safety.
  • + Soft, Loving, Pacifist, Gentle, Dutiful
    - Sort of stupid, Stubborn, Selfless to a fault, Meddling
  •  Appearance

  • King's coat is mostly a charcoal black with points of cream and white separated by dapples of yellow, orange, and red giving an ember-like appearance. His underbelly, continuing to the underside of his tail and enveloping the last 3-ft of it entire, is a bright cream and white color. He features a long, hooked horn growing from the center of his forehead that is ombre in color from a bright cream to a deep orange at its base. The fur of their body is short and silky, only thickening and lengthening on his neck, wrists, hind, and ankles. Both wrists have 'feathering' of long, wavy fur, as well as both hooves.

  • Their body is densely muscled with a notable amount of fat covering their throat, chest, stomach, and thighs. His physique is a necessary balance, meant to sustain him as he traverses the often frozen forest of his home and offer him the strength and defense to survive the sometimes mountainous terrain. His hands feature two hoof-capped fingers, and a short hoof-capped thumb. His teeth are mostly flat with long, sharp-pointed canines on both his upper and lower jaw. He is an omnivore but lives herbivorously.
  • His long and unkempt mane hides his eyes and cascades down his shoulders, neck, and back. The growth of their mane ends just below their shoulderblades down their back. This mane is somewhat 'wooly' in texture, giving its wavy look a fullness that is only increased by the sheer number of tangles hidden beneath the mostly 'silky' looking topcoat. He features 'feathering' on his wrists that are dark, wrapping around to the interior of his forearms to his elbow.
  • He is usually seen either in the nude or wearing his 'loincloth', a yucca rope with a strip of deer-hide leather. They typically only wear the loincloth while out adventuring as a level of protection and have very little concept of things like 'modesty' or 'shame'.
  •  Likes   Hiking, scavenging, music, flowers, fruit, stars
  •  Dislikes   Smoke, sudden loud noises, violence, walking on ice
  •  Backstory
    • King was discovered in the Steelehom Forests as a foal by the local Fae Spirits, abandoned by whatever Mother he once had and entirely defenseless.
  • Taking pity on such a rare creature, the Fae decided to raise the foal themselves from afar, never directly interacting with them but guiding and supporting him through the manipulation of the flora and fauna of the Forest.
  • Never knowing anything except for his solitude, King would adapt rather fine to his strange lifestyle, finding companionship and comfort in the less-intelligent lifeforms he grew up wanting to protect. It wasn't until his first encounter with a 'traveller' in his woods during his boyhood that he was even made aware there were other higher-intelligence creatures like himself in the world.
  • An utter fascination with this person led to King's discovery, and what would be the first of many attempts to capture the Unicorn for one reason or another. While he wasn't particularly intelligent, his strength and the watchful eye of the Fae helped him evade capture time and time again, earning him the nickname of 'The King of the Forest'.
  • They continue to live in Steelehom, assisting well-meaning travelers from a distance or intervening if necessary to keep them safe. His interest in the 'otherfolk' is mostly academic, wondering what world they came from and what their strange noises are, but they enjoy their life in the forest too much to ever stray far enough to learn anything substantial.

  •  'Does King know about the Fae?'
The short answer is 'no'. He is unaware of the significance of his exemplary luck and knows no existence where the forest itself hasn't looked out for him. He suspects nothing, as he simply assumes that this is how the world works.
  • He has, on occassion, seen questionable things that he can't explain, but he lacks the articulation to be truly curious about it in any way other than passive.
  •  "So is he like... a big kid, then?"
Naivety and inexperience are not synonymous with being childish or child-like.  King is still an adult with his own autonomy and can make decisions for himself. He is world-wise to life in the forest and despite his aloof intelligence has made many tools, optimizations to his routines, and has problem-solved many of his own troubles without the assistance of the Fae.
  • He is more like an extremely sheltered and laid-back adult than a child.
  •  "What are his thoughts on the otherfolk?"
King simply assumes they live in some other Forest beyond the borders of where they've explored. They have very little concept of 'Towns' or 'Cities', if any at all. He assumes that travelers and otherfolk are just flukes of nature, like him, and doesn't particularly understand the implications of the ones that try to capture him.
  • He is mostly ambivalent towards them, but can and will defend his homeland from the ones that bring in weapons and tools in an attempt to harm Steelehom.
  •  "Are Unicorns Rare in his Universe?"
Exceedingly so. There are 5 notable Unicorn Bloodlines in the civilized world outside of Steelehom, and none of them even remotely resemble King in appearance. A typical Unicorn is a lithe creature, almost more akin to a deer than a draft horse, and is solid-color with a tendency to run white, grey, cream, or roan.
  • Their rarity and his unusual appearance even for a Unicorn are most of the reason he is such an interesting target to capture. If his capture could reveal yet another Unicorn Bloodline's existence, the buzz around it would be monumental.
  •  Trivia
    • ● King has gotten really good at climbing trees despite his physiology not really allowing for it. He has a set of yucca ropes that he wraps around the trunk and pulls against while walking up the sides to gather fruit.

    • ● To keep themself entertained, King does a lot of painting and some minor 'farm' work. He tends to crops of wild fruits and vegetables, caretakes some wild chickens, and curates a 'garden' of sorts in which they grow flowers for pigments for their paint.

    • ● His nose is incredibly soft, warm, and velvety and he loves nothing more than to snuffle it into the hands of travelers who prove themselves to be trustworthy.

    • ● The gold band around his horn was the only direct gift he has ever been given by the Fae. He woke up on his fifth birthday with it carefully set around his horn and simply never took it off. It would be impossible to remove now due to his growth and the sickle hook of his horn without cutting the band.

    • ● They have scared their fair share of otherfolk by encountering them face-to-face buck naked. King has little concept of why meeting an 8-ft tall stark naked wild man in the middle of Fae-filled trickery forests would be terrifying, but he finds the strange pelts travelers wear to be interesting.

    • ● One of his favorite things to do is make flower chains. He is often seen with numerous flowers in his mane and flower chains around his arms and neck. If a traveler is particularly kind, he'll make one for them to offer as a gift on their journey out of Steelehom. The Fae tend to view travelers with flower chains as 'trustworthy' and will no longer bother them on their paths.
