Profile
Ptolomeo Ophiuchus
Polite • Gentle • Dull • brave • Elegant
What could you expect from a young master of one the richest witches households? A extremely powerful yet very incompetent person on daily stuff, full of himself, that is!
Ptolomeo is so glad that he isn't like that anymore.
The first time you see him you can't help but wonder why that person talks in such a gentle, quiet way. Almost like he came straight from an old book... Ptolomeo is a very polite and gentleman-like person who likes to help and protect other people whenever he can. He doesn't catch very well sarcasm or jokes, making absurdly fun pick on him. He rarely gets flustered or even changes of expression, 'tho! (Maybe that's why it's extra fun when something makes him look surprised or sligthy blushy)
As a demon slayer and part time magic master, Ptolomeo is a rather powerful witch, one kinda scary if you happen to be one of the things he decides to exterminate. He uses a pure white sword as weapon and cathalyst of his magic. His familiars are snakes, which he deeply loves. He owns a lil family of snakes and you usually can find one or two of them hiding in his cape or long hair.
Ptolomeo also is a flirt who appreaciates beauty and has zero shame in going for somebody who catched his eye. With his looks and personality not many people can resist him. He is emotionally unavailable, 'tho. He isn't interested in a relationship in long term, so he is very cautios of sleeping only for a night with whoever he did woo that day, not to catch feelings.
He's never been in love.
But that doesn't makes him a frivolous person! He is a very cheesy man with the few friends and family members he platonically loves, and doesn't hesitate to recite poetry to them, greet them with how much he adores them, or make them absurly expensive gifts. He has such dad energy for how everytime he notices that his younger cousins or Nathaniel enjoys any food/item he is fast to get many of that same thing (Sometimes, until they get bored of it)
Nathaniel's favourite pastime is messing with him, no wonder why!

Ptolomeo is a very elegant and pretty looking man. He has a manly, square type of face. His eyelashes are long and thick. He likes wearing whites and greens.
He likes taking care of his looks, choosing carefully his clothes and the hair style he will wear that day, he's a very vain person. It's very rare if not impossible to find him with a messy look. He also likes to make very pompous movements, like bowing or kissing hands when he first meets somebody.
He has a very inexpressive kind of face, he usually wears a slight smile on his lips with a relaxed look on his eyes. Ptolmeo very rarely shows big expressions. Some people would say that he has terribly cold blood for this. (This only makes funnier pick on him to make him angry or surprised 'tho)
It's very usual seeing him with snakes on his clothes or hair, a especially playful yet sleepy one likes to be wrapped on his hair, being used as a hair ornament. It's a very tiny snake so sometimes Ptolomeo doesn't notice that it's here and it can be a surprise for other eyes when he turns around and they can see it.
Snakes follow him around like puppies*. It can be a problem in places like forests for how many of these creatures can be near. They are extremely friendly and protective towards him so Ptolomeo doesn't and never will get why snakes are seen as monsters or something scary. They are his friends!
*This makes Nathaniel call him 'A very large, very different kind of Disney Princess KAHAHA'

Summary
A kinda dilf-ish white whitch with a demon step-son. He's as dense as a brick.
Early ages (Until 19 y.o.)
Born in an extremely rich, old and with huge influence family, he had the best of educations. His family basically was the owner of the witches village in which they lived and everyone looked up to them.
Ptolomeo used to be a favourite, the prodigal son. He's a natural with magic, being a extremely good witch and a deadly good swordman. In his teens he was the perfect young master. A person with the ideas clear of what being the next head of his family would be and how they definitely were the crème of the crème. He thought that his life was perfect until by accident he met and befriended another witch of a much less important family when he was around 15.
What once was normal to him (looking down at other magical families, thinking that less powerful witches and humans vere inferior) started to gain a different color for how gaining that friendship changed his point of view and shattered his whole world. Not much after that he started to be... kinda rebellious. Ptolomeo started to befriend even more low class witches, sometimes even going night hunt with them. In a few ocasions risking himself by trying to protect and help humans with his new friends.
It all felt so fresh. And right. He couldn't understand how he used to live in such a tiny world in which he had to act superior and almost like a noble, he was no prince...
His parents noticed way too late what was going on with him. In their defense his first rebel acts were in total secret until he couldn't keep quiet at the bigoty of his parents and even started to reply to them. Ptolomeo still was their best card, so his parents tried to soften things between them, but when he was eighteen and refused to pick a bride between the good options because 'He didn't feel like not marrying for love or living under the traditions of this family" they started to plot how to make him change his mind and turn him into the good, amanable boy he used to be.
After some time planning and pulling strings they managed to make that first friend dissappear for good. Ptolomeo took some months to discover what's happened and how that friend was now dead due his parents' influence. With his heart broken he decided to cut ties to them not before having a heavy argument with both of them and claiming that they could forget that they ever had him as son.
Which they did. The official version wasn't that he left, but that he was murdered in one of his night hunts by a demon. 'Let's take him as example of why we shouldn't bite more of what we can chew, dears...'
Among humans (Until 28 y.o.)
Repulsed of his own species he decided to test luck in the nearest human city. It didn't go especially well in the first weeks for how little surviving in society skills he had. He didn't know how to cook, clean or make any basic human jobs... So he spent his first weeks here living in the streets, hungry and dirty.
One day Ptolomeo had the luck of being found by a man who took pity of him and decided to help him. That new friend never asked much, but he somewhat knew that that young homeless man had a heavy story behind him. Some people thought that Ptolomeo only was a madman who had a screw loose, but to him, Ptolomeo sounded way too calm and lucid to be that.
He took him home and had the good heart to find him a job in his fiancee's pastry shop and help him to start a good, new life.
Ptolomeo lived pacefully for some years then, happy to have that guy and his fiancee as best friends. His friends didn't took long in marrying and having a child who they decided, Ptolomeo would be the perfect godfather.
Stuff went south when that child died in a school shooting when he was six. For the next couple of years his best friends, and especially she changed abruptly, turning into a extremely gloomy and depressed person. Ptolomeo, whom by that time was living in another city decided to come back for a while and rent an apartment near them. He started to get a bit... worried when some weeks before of the next disaster he noticed how she started to be a bit more cheerful. It could mean that she was starting to heal, but he also knew that when depressed people get better too suddenly it can also mean more dark, complicated stuff... So he wanted to be near to check and not let anything bad happen to them.
Ptolomeo didn't know this, but in reality she got crazily obsessed over the idea of bringing her dead son back to life... Ironic as it was, after some searching she ended up finding a book which promised her only desire. That's why she started to get more cheerful. She managed to convince her husband to try a ritual, which he accepted thinking that only was some fantasies that could heal a bit her soul...
They were wrong.
Magic and demons were real.
The child was brought back to life, but the payment required both their bodies and souls... And the child's too.
Sadly, Ptolomeo's magic tokens didn't warn him before of the disaster, so he couldn't save his friends.
Luckly, the tokens warned him so he could, at least, come in time to save the child.
The demon was summoned by blood and they were only able to touch members of that family, so Ptolomeo had that in his favour, and finally (finally) after seven years barely using magic, he used it to kill that foul creature and take that child, Nathaniel, with him.
It was a very traumatizing event for both of them, and Nathaniel took a long time to start to react... But that's another story.
What's important is that Ptolomeo then, promised to himself that he would do everything in his hands not to let something like this happen again. Not at least if he can avoid it. That, and that Nathaniel would be his protegee and his priority from now on.
He hasn't break that promise yet.
Present
After saving Nathaniel, Ptolomeo decided to come back to his witches village. He felt emotional drained and like he needed help to raise a child... Plus Nathaniel seemed hard to hide among humans for how he... didn't really look or acted like an human child anymore. Demon magic can be very mysterious and even now he doesn't really understand how Nathaniel was brought back to life and why he has demon traits now.
Ptolomeo wasn't sure if he could do much about his parents, but he wanted to try, he wasn't a teen anymore to fall under their tricks, anyways, and he knew they were fake enough to put on a friendly facade towars him. It was enough to him, he missed his siblings and cousins after everything...
(It was a surprise seeing him alive)
Nathaniel had a hard time fitting but he managed to make friends with some of his step-cousins after some time.
Most of Ptolomeo's family members and other witches see Nathaniel as a burden and a threat. They don't recognize him as his son, although Ptolomeo pretty much feels like he is...
In the present Ptolomeo is a part time demon slayer and a magic teacher. People see him as a very reliable and wise man (They prefer him much better when Nathaniel isn't around 'tho)
He's trying to train Nathaniel to be a demon slayer + some white magic. They've only fought imps and bad spirits so far 'tho. Big demons are not normal in this realm.

Nathaniel
[ Protegee ]
"Oh, my dearest son! I am so proud if him, growing into such a fine gentleman!... (...) Ah, Nathaniel, dear, let that bird go, you have already done too many taxidermy of that kind..."
They make such a strange pair, but it's clear that even 'tho they often have arguments for how untamed his lil son is, they truly care for each other. Ptolomeo, in fact, decided to become a demon slayer to try and avoid any other case of what happened to Nat (losing his parents, Mer's best friends, and even his own life). Nathaniel is what changed his life forever and made him want to have contact with his family after living for a decade among humans, because he knew that raising a child by himself would be... hard. He swallowed his pride for him, which is, honestly, a quite unique thing.
(Ptolomeo is the definition of pridefulness)
Ptolomeo tries his best at educating him into a young gentleman, trying to make him act as pure as kind hearted as possible. Which isn't... going especially well.
'Mer would die for Nathaniel. It isn't a secret, but somewhat, Nathaniel doesn't fully belive this... Let's hope he doesn't find out how real this is in a near future.
Nor
[ Younger sister]
'Ah, my sweet baby sister! She definitely changed... a lot"
Ptolomeo is a bit worried and kinda spooked of her...? Nor seems like she lost her mind in these years he stopped having contact with his family. It's kinda ironic because she became a paladin/demon slayer too... after joining some kind of cult. She used to be very sweet, a bit easy to manipulate... Maybe that's how she ended up like this. Nor is obsessed with killing demons now.
Ptolomeo and she used to be very close and losing him kind of traumatized her, especially because their parents made her believe that he was killed in a night hunt. She attacked him when they met again years later, thinking that he was some kind of illusion or a demon in disguise. She is very brutal and he definitely didn't want to attack back so you can imagine how badly injured Mer ended up.
Asteri & Fengari
[ Younger cousins ]
'They are almost adults now! My adorable baby cousins... I still remember when they were so tiny they barely could reach my hand to grab it. Ah, I can't believe how mature and well educated they are now! Although... I wish they could get along again...'
He was the first master of the twins! He left when they were barely five, but he somewhat left a big impression in them, inspiring them into copying a bit his aesthetic and growing their hair. He used to try to teach magic to them, being especially soft to Fengari, for how difficult magic was to him.
'Mer used to braid their hair and tell to them lil stories about his adventures and hunts of evil creatures. It hasn't changed much even now, since they both still adores listening to his stories, having their long hair braided by his expert hands. He's one of the few people who still has both the twins's respect, managing to make them listen in absolute awe when he explains any of his adventures.
The twins have recently fell apart of each other 'tho... And that kind of confuses Mer a lot. They used to be so close... He is very bad with teens so he is a bit anxious about trying to make them talk to each other. He believes that over time they will get over it, so he is trying to be neutral with the whole thing, being the cool older cousin/uncle they need.
