ESTE is a rather eccentric Psychic-type Pokémon trainer from Kalos who explores the regions using the stars as her guide. While she may come across as haughty and overly competitive most of the time, she’s much more sweet and humble than she lets on. She also has some chuunibyou tendencies, often talking about how “the stars will lead one to their destiny” or that “our fates are determined by the stars,” (despite thinking that astrology is a bunch of nonsense.) She has a strong passion for astronomy and astronavigation, which she often uses while traveling.

“Este Nova” is actually Estelle d’Librenova, the heiress to the House of Librenova and former Battle Chateau prodigy who mysteriously disappeared after losing her long-held rank as Duchess. House Librenova is a prestigious family known throughout Kalos due to its lineage tracing all the way back to the early days of the region, the founder of the family being a loyal aide to the former king. However, the family has started to decline in recent years, leading to its current head becoming desperate to return the house to its former glory. Seeing Este’s great potential as a trainer from an early age, her parents decided to take it to their advantage and placed the restoration of House Librenova upon her shoulders. They constantly pushed her to present herself as an immaculate noble girl and used her achievements to gain notoriety, guilting her into doing as she was told by holding filial piety over her head.

Eventually collapsing under the pressure put upon her and seeing her parents’ true colors, Este resolved to no longer be used as a tool by them and left Kalos behind in order to forge her own path in life.
