Traits & Skills
Leadership
Alana runs a tight crew and has worked hard to build the Dullahans into a small family that can trust and rely on each other no matter what. Alana is extremely decisive and blunt. She does not beat around the bush, and will say what she believes even if it makes others question her. She expects the same level of truthfulness from her gang about things that will affect the gang.
Religion
Before the world ended, Alana had been raised Catholic. After the world ended, she decided to maintain her religious beliefs. She is uncertain now if what she practices can even be called Catholicism, as she has not had access to a community larger than herself. Most of what she practices is from what she recalls from before the plague. Some bits, however, have been heavily influenced by the plague and has become something of her own.
Languages
Alana speaks fluent Irish and some English. Her English is heavily accented and is mostly pieced together from what she has picked up from the rest of the gang. Communication can sometimes be a barrier for her. Alana also does not know how to read or write, which adds to her stress when she is trying to communicate with somebody new.
Textiles
Alana has a keen eye for clothes making- something she has put to good use to bring in money and supplies for the gang. Between her skills and Wyley's skills in clothes making, having their primary trade be in textiles was the obvious choice. Alana enjoys working on clothing with Wyley, and has worked on sharing her skills with the others in the gang.

Summary
Before the Plague
Alana immigrated to America from Ireland in [year] when she was [age] with her mother, father, two older brothers and one younger sister to escape the Famine. They landed on Ellis Island and proceeded to make their way west. With the railroad industry booming, the family settled in temporary housing along the tracks that her father and brothers worked upon, steadily moving west as the track was constructed. The majority of workers were Irish, giving the family a community to be a part of. Alana, her mother, and her sister spent most of their time taking care of the housework and other transitionary farming work.
As Alana got older, her parents expected her to get married to one of the men in the community and start her own family. She was close friends with a man called Erick Faegan. Despite being close, Alana harbored no romantic or sexual attraction toward him. Not wanting to lead him on or break his heart, she told him the truth. Erick tried to understand and did, to some extent. Trying to be supportive and help the woman he loved, he told her he would marry her anyways, as it would prevent her family from finding her someone else who might be less understanding. She agreed to consider it, knowing it was her only real option if she wanted to stay with the community.
Her decision was made for her when the world ended. A new plague struck, driving humans and horses alike mad. It was from Erick himself that she learned what was happening. In the dead of night he had come to their makeshift house, bursting through the door with a horrible cry. Awoken, the Quinn family rushed to him, finding him on his hands and knees by the door, bleeding from a ragged wound on his neck. They were unable to get much out of him. He kept repeating "She bit me. She bit me" before dissolving into incoherent mutterings about blood shot eyes and the Devil. Alana left only for a moment to fetch him water from the well as her mother tended to Erick's wound. When she returned, she found a massacre. Erick, his family, her neighbors- screams rose in the dark, human and inhuman wound together in what Alana could only imagine Hell sounded like. She couldn't find her siblings or parents before Cagney, a woman who she had just tended to the sheep with yesterday, charged her, eyes red rimmed and blood leaking from every orfice. Alana fled, happening upon a passing train that provided her an escape from her ruined village.
Survival Years
WIP
Current
Alana has been the leader of the gang "The Dullahans" for [uh] years now. She keeps it a small, tight operation of only four people, herself included. There had been previous members, but due to some spats of misfortune, the remaining members are Wyley Castillo. [clo's char], and [raineh's char]. The Dullahans target primarily the occassional trains that pass through. There aren't many now, as from what they know the rest of the country has fallen to the same plague. They supplement their heists with livestock and whatever they can hunt. Their main rival is Stirrup's gang. Alana respects Stirrup as a successful leader, but territory is territory and she will do what needs to be done to provide for her family. However there is a new threat rising- a new gang led by the cutthroat Madame Amelia Bulgari.
Wyley Castillo
[ Adopted daughter ]
Alana found Wyley half dead and starving on a cold early morning patrol. Bringing the girl back to camp, she and the others helped nurse Wyley back to health. Alana initially wasn't sure if Wyley would stay, being able to tell that something horrible had happened to her. Slowly but surely, however, the two of them began to bond as Alana taught Wyley more about the Dullahans and how they worked. Alana has come to view Wyley as a daughter and is extremely fond and protective of her.
Noah
[ Former gang member ]
Noah was part of the Dullahans for a short period of time. Alana respected him and his strength and determination. When Jo died, however, it proved to be too much stress for the small group, and Noah decided to leave. It hurt her deeply when he decided to leave, but she let him go. Alana does not know where he went, but she prays everyday that he is safe and found some good people to stay with.
Johanna "Jo" Sohmer
[ Former gang member ]
When Jo was alive, she and Alana would butt heads constantly. Both were strongly opinionated and stubborn. Despite this, they both did care for each other. Alana often affectionately referred to Jo as her "annoying little sister". In the end, Jo died trying to help the gang against Alana's orders. Alana knows that it isn't her fault, but she often blames herself for Jo's death, feeling as though she could have stopped it. Sometimes that rage turns on Jo and Alana hates her for recklessly putting herself in mortal danger. Alana misses Jo every day.
Stirrup Martingale
[ Rival gang leader ]
Alana's feelings about Stirrup are extremely complicated. Stirrup was the one who picked her up at the beginning of the plague and taught her how to survive. But Stirrup was also the one who banished her from their gang, forcing her to strike out on her own. Alana has tried to understand Stirrup's perspective on this, but has failed every time, too caught up in her own hurt to understand. Despite her anger at Stirrup, Alana respects them as a rival leader, and sometimes a flash of their old friendship can be seen just below the surface.
