he was born with six antler stubs and mangled hind legs that were removed soon after. he managed to function fine, of course; the problem was his birth clan treated him as an immature invalid that needed help constantly. In the end, frustrated beyond belief from being coddled, he up and left to find a new place to lead his life (and partially to prove his worth to himself too).

Unfortunately the world is not a great place for a teenage dragon with no hind legs to be wandering around aimlessly in, so he got his butt handed to him by a big monster. Emerybane finds him unconscious and bloody in their territory, and take him in to heal him up... they assume that he lost his legs in that fight, though; so the mechanics rig up some mechanical prosthetics for him.
