Profile
Akio Watanabe is a third year at Mishamari Upper Secondary School, and the secretary and main editor of the News Club. While he is the senior member of the club, he is not the president, which leaves him with some feelings of resentment towards Naozumi. Besides that, he's not the most outgoing or charismatic member of the club. He wishes he were more confident, but for now, he'll stick with hosting podcasts and editing.
Akio grew up with his twin Ena and their parents. He had a fairly normal childhood, for the most part, but he was witness to his parents belittling Ena often, while he was praised for doing the bare minimum. This treatment never sat right with Akio, so he constantly stayed by Ena's side in everything, trying his best to be their hypeman, even during mundane things. Even as borderline adults, he sticks with them and builds their confidence, even though they have outgrown the need for that.
Akio is a very intelligent young man, but is often too distracted by his theories and fantasies to do too well in his classes. He doesn't have a lot of friends, and doesn't try to make too many, but he does his best to suggest stories to the News Club. He encourages Naozumi to tone things down a bit, though he's typically ignored. He does, however, run his own podcast on supernatural creatures and occassional supernatural occurences in town.
- He's always a little bit sweaty.
- He needs his glasses, he can't see without them.
- He's lanky and quite weak.
- He loves recording videos.
- Akio goes stargazing whenever he can, usually on holidays.
- He used to want to be an astronaut when he grew up. He wants to be a paranormal investigator now.
- The only reason that Akio didn't join the Occult Club was because he wanted to use the News Club's film equipment. He does believe in ghosts, but not as much as aliens and monsters.
- He can't dance, he has no sense of rhythm.
- He was nominated as "Most Likely To Be An Incel" for his senior superlative.
