Whether it be a commission that few adventurers dare to tackle or when the knights need an extra hand, Honey will always be there to pitch in.
Discovering that there had been a local from Mondstadt who was raised by hilichurls was quite the shock for most knights. What came more of a surprise was how she could mediate between the two. A potential hostile situation could become textbook docile all with an exchange of words from Honey. No doubt it was from the reverance they hold toward her strength to be the leader of their pack.
Living a rugged lifestyle taught her much about survival. Constantly measuring up her strength with the monsters she lived with kept her in practice with combat. Yet, despite the perks she has, she wonders what it would be like if she had grown up the way that other humans do.
Where does the girl who bonds with monsters come from? Surely she has an origin to, right?
Honey was born in a small village just within Mondstadt. One night, when Honey was still a mere child, her village fell under raid by a group of treasure hoarders. They pilfered the goods in the dead of night and Honey- who often found herself in odd places to hide and sleep- had tucked herself away in her family's treasure chest.
"This one is extra heavy, it's gotta have something good in it!" The treasure hoarders had thought. After a safe distance away from the village, they pop open the trunk to reap their unjust reward. Never would they have expected to find a kid.
Not quite cold hearted enough to kill the messy haired kid, they let her go in the midst of nowhere. She wandered aimlessly, unable to find her way back home. Eventually, she grew hungry and tired and- with not much hope in sight- she stumbled upon a hilichurl camp. They were preparing their own suspscious soup and meats, yet to an empty stomach it was irresistable. Honey snuck into the camp and stole their food, running off as fast as she could with a bag in hand.
She takes a seat and is ready to cave in to her ravenous desire but is unable to as a pang of guilt hits her stomach. Stooping so low as to steal from others, even monsters, was something that she couldn't look past. Ashamed of what she had done, she collects the goods and finds the camp.
"I'm sorry," she would weakly say in earnest as the monsters surrounded her. Her mind goes blank as she passes out from hunger. When she comes to again, it would be to the smell of burnt meat. She had been tucked away into a hilichurl hut with an unappetizing meal beside her.
Day in and day out she would live with the hilichurls at the camp. They would tustle and fight, and with it Honey would train and grow stronger. So much so that she could take on the strongest Mitachurl with just her bare hands. She earned her reputation with her camp as being the strongest and thus accepting the respect that came with being top-dog. She'd also learn to speak hilichurlian and would be the most fluent human to do so.
Still, Honey wasn't the only one who would benefit from the situation. The hilichurls of her camp would pick up on her influence. When coming in contact with knights or other humans, they would tend to be more cordial than others. Given that an indiviudal doesn't choose to start a conversation with them with fist or blade, that is.
Oh what information could be obtained ever so unexpectedly from the ears of a monster. That information spoken in discreet code that no one else could decipher. Surely the Cavalry Captain could find a use for such a person.
Life within Dadaupa Gorge was kind. At least as much as it could be in Honey's situation. She was outwardly happy, and the monsters were as close to a family as she knew. Though there was still a nagging feeling that she longed for something more. Thoughts of who she could be if she had grown up in human society, of if she could ever belong, were echoing louder and louder.
"Fine. Today is the day I go."
Deciding without time for hesitation, Honey bids goodbye to her unconventional family and promises to visit again when she is satisfied with her travels. She sets out to journey Teyvat to find if there could be any place that she would belong. Mondstadt had always been a overshadowing home for her, yet she wasn't ignorant enough to know that there were plenty of people would held a distasteful view of the girl who was raised by monsters.
"Fine. I'll go west."
Liyue Harbor was big and the bustle of people was unlike anything she could ever imagine. Knowing that if she were to claim this place as her home, she would need to know all she could about it. Though, given her scruffy appearance, none were willing to stop to answer her questions.
"Excuse me, sir! I'm sorry to trouble you, but could you tell me about Liyue? I would like to learn all that I can."
Lucky for her, she had asked just the right person who could tell her more than she'd ever hoped to hear.
Liyue had embraced Honey with open arms. Of course she would need time to adjust and learn proper social cues, but she seemed to settle in nicely. The land was vast and its history deep. And, with the help of her dear friend associated with the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, she had found the opportunity of a lifetime.
Bemused that someone would be so inclined to learn about Liyue's history in its truest sense, welcoming every topic with enthusiasm, the consultant couldn't help but share his wisdom with her. Even with all that he knew and had seen, her perspective was refreshing and her genuine inquiries would cause even him to dwell on an answer. She was astute and her observations were keen. Not to mention that he was surprised that a human could retain so much, even down to the finest detail, with such precision. Had she gained a structured education she would have been quite the academic.
It wouldn't be amiss to catch she and the consultant taking a nightly stroll through the harbor or to see her giving the traditional arts a try.
Perhaps his influence may rub off on her.
"You seem to know so much about all kinds of things. But there must be something that even you don't know. When I figure that out, I would like to teach you something new."
