"There's this book I think you'd like..."

A mellow university student, Sage is calm, collected and cool. He isn’t the most social person, but he can get along with just about anybody. A lot of people are surprised to find out that he’s romantically involved with the hyperactive Sun Liao– but he does love him very much. Sun and his other friend Juno were a perfect fit for him to re-introduce him to socializing with people after an upsetting misunderstanding between Sage and a friend during his high school years, even if it took him a bit to match their energy. Despite this, though, he doesn’t talk about himself very often to people he doesn’t know… because he’s hiding his true nature from almost everybody.

childhood

As a child, Sage was rather anomalous. Not being human, he spent his first couple of years with some developmental setbacks-- he could walk by the age of 2, but elected not to most of the time, and was only able to walk by himself at the age of 5.

He also couldn't go to school, on account of the fact that when he was young, his "skin" was actually coated with green moss, and his father would have a hard time explaining that to people. Instead, Galileo brought in a tutor-- a man by the name of Xander, who has achromatopsia. Galileo ended up falling in love with him, and eventually marrying him.

teenage life

As Sage grew older, the moss on their skin began to fade off, and by the age of 14 was gone altogether, leaving Sage's actual skin in its place-- with scarring resembling tree trunks along their arms and legs.

Sage and his fathers moved from Mexico to Australia when Sage was around 16, where he went to high school. High school was a little hard for him, having a small grasp on English and never having been in a proper school environment before, but he managed just fine. One person who made his high school experience a little easier was his friend Cristal, who spoke Spanish as well as English. The two were practically inseparable-- that was, until nearing the end of their final year of high school, when Cristal confessed her romantic feelings toward him. Sage, never having experienced this before, and desperate to hide his true non-human nature, declined messily and abruptly stopped talking to her-- leaving a lot of loose ends on both sides.

adulthood

Now, in their adulthood, Sage attends university as an English major, pursuing their love of literature. He also met Sun, his now boyfriend, and Juno, his good friend, through school.

His affections toward Sun manifested as going to see all of the theatre shows he was in, but he then found out that he and sun were a lot more similar than he thought at first glance. They now live together in a small apartment with their 2 pet rats, Roxie and Maya. Even having grown up and realizing he's not attracted to women, he still misses Cristal and wishes he could've worked things out with her in a better way.

Sun Partners

Sun is Sage's boyfriend, which comes as a small shock to everyone they're introduced to. Their personalities wildly differ, but Sage loves him very much all the same-- he finds Sun's excitability endearing.

Juno is Sage's friend, whom he met through Sun introducing them to him. They're rather good friends, and Juno meshes well with Sun's down-to-earth attitude.

Cristal used to be Sage's closest friend during high school, until Sage reacted impulsively and immediately stopped talking to her after she confessed her romantic feelings toward him. Sage deeply regrets this, though, and wishes he could just talk to her again one more time to work things out.
