Profile
Aurgelmir, also known as Ymir, is a key figure in the Norse origin myth. He is the forefather of all Jötnar and is described in some mythology as the first sentient being. After he was born from ice and fire, he was nursed by a cosmic heifer named Audhumla, who also emerged from the water.
Ymir in Norse mythology is the first Jötunn, a type of being from Norse mythology often referred to as a giant. In Old Norse writing, Ymir is described as having emerged when the frost of Niflheim was melted by the fiery air of Muspelheim. The contact between the two opposite realms created water droplets, which grew into Ymir.
