Roman Martel

Eccentric and over dramatic, Roman has a tendency to make a big deal out of even small, seemingly insignificant things, though oftentimes he is doing it on purpose and it is meant to be taken lightly, it is always hard to tell whether that is the case or if he is being serious. Self absorbed, a dreamer, lacking focus and oblivious to social cues, he can often be found staring off into space, zoning out during conversation or even changing the subject at random, having been clearly not paying attention to what was being talked about. Generally though, Roman is friendly, gentle, kindhearted and gentlemanly, he sees merit in being chivalrous to others, male or female, and is always willing to help out whenever he can, though he can be a bit naive to the intentions of others and has been known to be taken advantage of and scammed.

Endlessly forgiving and wishing to see beauty in everything, Roman is near impossible to anger- unless of course you use gay slurs within earshot of him, at which point he is more than willing to stand up to the offender and correct their behavior. Though he is quite outgoing and flamboyant, he uses this persona and his excellent acting skills to hide his true nature, that of an emotional, shy, awkward and timid child that longs to express his true feelings and emotions to those around him.

• Talks to himself (reciting play lines or poetry).
• Plays with his hair (usually curling a piece of it around his index finger).
• Drums his fingers on surfaces when stressed or nervous.

Often described by others as a beautiful man, Roman's slender but fit build, deep blue eyes, pale almost delicate skin and long, thick hair only add to this appeal and leaves him with many female (and some male) fans. His most noticeable feature, though (for those that can see them) are his large white angel wings protruding from between his shoulder blades and reaching past his ankles, one of which is made half from robotics and strong steel. Personally most proud of his long, slightly curly blue hair, it's easy to tell he takes good care of it from it's shine, thickness and softness and he isn't afraid to flaunt it or brag from time to time. Though his eyes are naturally blue, thanks to the abuse he suffered as a young teen, his left eye is white (and mostly blind) though he usually wears a matching contact to hide it and help with his vision. Roman also has a half kirin form (a kirin satyr if you will) that gives him the lower half, horns and ears of a deer and a long tail as well as various patches of the light blue fur on his body. As far as clothes are concerned, he is usually seen in long jackets, scarves, vests, gloves, dress pants and shoes, but he refuses to be kept in such a box and is always willing to expand his wardrobe, whether it costumes or every day clothing.

Born an accident to a kirin/angel mother and a human father- the result of a one night stand- Roman was dropped off at his fathers doorstep with nothing but a blanket and a name. Though Roman's father was kind enough to take the boy into his home, the man was an emotionally abusive alcoholic who did nothing but leave the boy to fend for himself while growing up. When Roman was about 15 years old, he grew close to one of the younger male teachers at his school, whom, upon learning of Roman's situation, offered the boy a home away from his father to get on his feet, however it did not quite go as Roman was hoping. The situation was a pleasant one until Roman admitted to his developing feelings for the other man, who took it as a chance to use the boy as he saw fit and Roman became near a slave of his once friend, doing anything he asked and acting like the obedient boy he was told to be. The other man took advantage of the boy, only to go out and pick up woman at any chance he got, leaving Roman with a broken heart along with an abused body.

Over the next couple of years until Roman was nearly 18, his roommate became increasingly aggressive and physically abusive, taking out his work and social frustrations on the younger man, until one night when he came home Roman confronted him about not only the abuse, but the relationship he had been questioning existed as he was tossed aside night after night. The older man snapped, leaving Roman with a mangled wing and a damaged eye and forcing him to run for his life. Living homeless for several months, Roman was eventually taken in by the director of the theater he often used for shelter and was given the help he needed to fix his wing (which took several years and surgeries) by a friend of the director as well as a job by the theater owner as a stage hand. Roman was greatly indebted to the director, so much so he was more than willing to overlook the man's tendency to yell, verbally abuse and take advantage of his staff. Within a year, Roman had come to realize his passion for acting and he was a natural that captured the hearts of the audience; he quickly became the star of the show and was given a permanent place among the theater cast.

• He is mostly blind in his left eye (he wears a contact that helps with his vision and matches his eye color, or glasses).
• His wings are only visible to those that are aware of the non-human.
• His part metal wing makes it impossible for him to fly properly, though he can lift off the ground and glide.
• He speaks some French, though not fluently.
