"Being out at night high in the sky is exhilarating and peaceful, but you need courage, confidence, and experience to do what we do."

Sarcastic and sassy, Basil doesn't put as much expression on his face as he does with his voice. He enjoys being able to explain his thoughts with rationale and evidence, and likes the complexity of rules and formatting to the point of where he chose to be in life: studying to become a lawyer related to technologies.

Although Basil is not a fan of competitions, anyone who faces against his intellect or anyone who chooses to "not serve the greater good" drives his internal motivation to out compete. When not facing against competitions, Basil is rather quiet and prefers to be on his own, unless it's related to his hobby and/or his secret, personal mission.

History

As a law student in his second year, Basil excels in both his studies and helping around his uncle's repair shop. As one of the starting individuals to ride the wires at night using the gear invented by his uncle, he and his group compete against a mysterious individual in a race to reveal corruption in the largest companies to the general public.

Virvivacity

A massive megacity with glistening lights, containing both the beautiful and the ugly, and where millions of civilians live about their daily lives overlooking the ocean. A variety of elites live here as well, defining the megacity through the successes of economics and order. Virvivacity is well known for its entertainment, powerful companies, towering buildings, and a well educated population ratio compared to other megacities. It would be unnatural for there to be little to no crimes in Virvivacity, so the police force has always been a thriving field, followed closely by the law and medical fields.

Its reconstruction process to better provide resources and electricity grew into a problem. The underground already had too many pipelines and complex subway systems, and so the only option to better supply electricity to the major areas was through generators located at the rooftops. Each major building would be connected by an electrical wire, strong enough to withstand fierce winds, weather wear, and heavy weights, with at least two wires connecting to provide a source of power should one cable fail. The massive airport to the megacity is the only acception to this reconstruction, located at the very edge of its borders.

Electrical wires placed had a coating that protected the inside from the outside. Technically, if a person touched one of these wires, they would not be affected by a high voltage - it was incredibly effective and there had been no accidents since their installation.

Despite the protection against the dangerous levels of electricity, going to rooftops or restricted areas on rooftops was and always has been off limits.

Lawful and Yet Unlawful

Given up by his parents at a very young age, Basil was taken in by his uncle. He owned a repair shop, and because Basil was exposed learning how technology worked and wanting to support his uncle, he grew adept with understanding the coding language and yearned to be a lawyer.

His uncle was not always playing rules by the book. He had, after all, started tinkering and experimenting on gadgets and inventions, eventually leading to a pair of gloves and specially designed boots. The grooves would allow the wearer to easily attach to these electrical wires, with a locking mechanism to ensure that the user wouldn't magically fall off.

"Sky running" was born. At first, there were very little runners out there, but eventually a community built up. Despite it being small, that was a good thing. Fewer people usually meant they were more experienced, and those that were a member had someone to rely on when learning how to use the wires. Police intervention had been lax, as there were many wires people could use to climb to high heights. Of course, they could only get the equipment from his uncle's shop. Those interested in joining the "sport" would have to decipher a code themselves or come across the shop by chance. Even then, they were tested by his uncle himself to see whether they were worthy or not. Sky running was an incredibly dangerous "sport" after all. One would have little safety mechanisms.

Every runner usually went by an alias, and always wore some sort of face mask to prevent two things: identity verification and protection from the winds and cold.

Living the life of a secret identity was, in a way, stress-relieving.

Corruption Revealed

One of the largest advantages of being a sky runner was mobility. The fastest way to get around the city was by wire. Sky runners, which had a secret website, had strict rules to prevent individuals from being captured by enforcements. Runners would only be allowed at night, because that was the safest time to be out.

Another factor, for Basil and his eventual group of three, was the ability to go to major corporation buildings.

Rumours would spread by word of particularly nasty things happening behind these doors of major corporations, and Basil and his group wanted to bring the truth out. After all, misuse of funds or management harmed the public considerably.

Armed with their equipment and IT knowledge, the group would head out during the night, targeting organizations after meticulous research. Hacking was their specialty: they would make their ways into the buildings, target a random computer, and insert their trigger-sensitive virus. This virus was known as TRIckster, created by the three members of the group, that would be able to collect data from the mainframe, slipping through loopholes in coding and, when achieving a large, pre-determined amount of information, would infect the rest of the computers in the corporation. This infection would freeze current computer processes while launching its reports to the public. Scandals would be made big, and corporations would crumble, especially if the virus found vital documents.

Unwanted Competition

It eventually became apparent that Basil's group was not the only one targeting corporations. It took some time but the group realized that someone was beating them at their own game with their own personalized virus. What's more, given their incredible speed in beating them to their targets, it could have only been another sky runner. Ruling out other possibilities, this person who was a sky runner would have the same advantages as Basil's group.

Needless to say, Basil was furious. Not in the fact that this person was revealing all the dirty secrets of corporations, but in the fact that this person was beating them to their targets.

The race was on. Whoever this person was, Basil was determined to find out.

Trivia

Out of the three in the group, their real life job consists of one being a journalist, Basil as a law student, and the other a mechanic and maintenance crew. Their combinations works extremely well in figuring out building layouts and who to target next.

Basil is nicknamed the Musician amongst the sky runner community. This is because Basil always has a pair of headphones or speakers on his body, and music is played aloud, usually personal creations that fill the ambience or popular songs at the time being.

Sky Running: Gained by experience over the years, Basil is considered one of the pioneers in the field. Building up speed as a sky runner is incredibly important. Not being able to make speed would force one to be stuck in one place, and not having any momentum could bring the worst. Basil can maintain his core and leg strength well, as necessary for navigating the wires and staying on balance and for pulling off stunts when jumping from one wire to another. As a rather free-spirited and risky during the nights, not many else dare to try and pull off the same "parkour".

Hacking: Based on his original interest when helping out his uncle in the repair shop, his interest in learning how the coding world started to grow. Expanding into advanced coding languages and techniques, he grew an eye for catching loopholes and errors in coding when "absent-mindedly" popping into a company's framework, big or small. His "playground" to test infiltration tactics and code injections further expanded when he started to seriously hack into corrupt corporations.
