Profile

Maria was born a normal girl to a middle class family, the second and last child with an older brother. It's fair to say her life was slightly privileged in most aspects, even if her family has trouble sometimes. However, where she wasn't privileged was her school life. Despite her intellect, due to undiagnosed mental illness and her weight, she was bullied almost relentlessly. While she had first tried to fight these bullies off, she eventually grew used to it and simply tried to focus on her studies and interests. Her life was rather uneventful, the best part being the fact she rode the wave of being an honors student with no friends. That is, until she met two girls in seventh grade. Ash and Avery.

Ash was moderately popular, while Avery was more of an outcast like her. However, the three all became great friends seemingly overnight after meeting on the bus. Ash showed interest in what Maria had to say, Avery had the same interests as Maria, and Maria was desperate for friendship. High school suddenly felt like it'd be a lot easier. That is, until Maria realized something about herself. Her feelings for Ash was a lot different than her feelings for Avery. She feared these feelings as they entered high school, but finally admitted to them near the end of their freshman year. Somehow, she accepted, full heartedly and happily. As Maria got more friends, she realized she could finally have some peace in her life.

That is, until a ghost entered her life.

A woman named Satomi, claiming to be hundreds of years old and an ancestor of hers. What was more shocking was the fact Satomi showed her a secret of the world, magic. Elemental magic that only she could wield as her descendent. When Maria asked her why she of all people had this power, she was told it was because she was going to be the one to change the world for the better direction. It was filled with corruption and abuse, and she had seen that first hand. With this power, she could force those in charge to finally change, and make a world of her own, free of pain and with real freedom. With a spark forming in Maria's hand, the world was going to be changed forever.

Satomi went on to guide her new student in the realm of magic, teaching her how to manipulate and create fire, illusions, weapons. While she did this, however, she began to change something within Maria. A spell that only she knew, that records of have been lost to time. A spell that messed with Maria's emotions and memory, heightening her anger and quelling her compassion. While her sweetness and empathy remained unchanged, her more violent thoughts and tendencies sparked like the fires in her hands. Honeyed words were applied to emotional wounds given from day after day of training and harsh critiques. When her high school days should have finally been happier, she found herself only angry and stressed. However, her respite had always been her girlfriend, Ash. Nothing could come between them.

And so Satomi did. She forced Maria to make the choice between her new world and Ash after their prom. With a heavy heart, she chose her duty. Now, Satomi was the only one who had her heart and control. Avery had been pushed away, almost going away herself. Her parents had began to descend into bad habits and alcohol, worthless and inattentive. Any other friends she may have gotten had drifted when she began snapping more as well. An bitter rage rose in her when she returned to school, almost done with her final year. However, she decided that day would be last day stepping foot in that school. As well as everyone else's. She triggered the fire alarm in the bathroom and hid, then once everyone was evacuated, used her four years of skill to set it ablaze. The last time she saw Ash was from the roof, watching her eyes dance across the flames their school had become. And then, she ran.

At first, it was back home. She needed supplies and clothes, and one final thing. Her parent's lives. They were the first she had ever taken, but she felt... nothing when it happened. They had failed her, so why should see. Satomi smiled as her plan worked in front of her. The only life she mourned was a friend of hers, who had done nothing wrong but get in her way and disagree with her plan. Satomi told her, no one can get in your way anymore. Not even friends.

After days, she had arrived at her country's leader. Her normalcy was thrown away, and she threatened to take the country for herself if it didn't comply with her plan. She would take an island not far off the coast and create her kingdom there, where she could free those who this country would refuse, and make a land of true freedom. Attacks were guarded by a magic barrier, until a shot of water breached it.

Maria turned to see Avery, her old friend, and another ghost. A man with long hair in a low ponytail, who Satomi recognized but didn't explain. He was enemy, and that's all that mattered. He used Avery to try and make her believe she wasn't the only one with magic, and that falsity couldn't stand. Avery was in the way of her plans. Everyone was getting in the way of her plans. She had to kill them. A battle of the elements which would go down in history, of swords clashing, of cries to stop and calm down, to remember who she was.

However, this was who she was. The one who will save the world, and who had taken the lives of too many already to quit. And so with a solid heart, Maria bested her enemy. There was no longer anyone else in her way. She was the stronger one now. She had to be. Years of training, of skipping meals, of loneliness, of crying over painful punishments had to make her strong. Maria got her kingdom, and she finally had her freedom.

She rules as the princess now, with Satomi as queen. Not a day goes by where she doesn't have a smile on her face, even when she's out on a mission, raiding cities and killing the corrupt with her sword. She smiles at the army she grows, and the people she frees, and those at try to stop her for it to be the last thing they see. She's happy.

Right? Right? Right right right right right?
