Oh, what's that...

The planet Drex is a pure water planet. The people live in sophisticated pods under the gargantuan mass of water that covers their planet. Possibly one of the most technilogically advanced races, many other races would come to them for space crafts, weapons, medicine etc. A properous planet, they thought nothing could bring down their peace and future, however that was the furthest thing from the truth. While researching a particularly deadly virus to create cures, someone became careless and the virus was set loose on their planet.

A pandemic spread throughout the planet.

Zali grew up wealthy and sheltered. She would watch the sea creatures swim outside her windows and wish she could join them. Always born with the need for adventure, she didn't know the kind of life that was outside her shelthered walls. Her parents were the top in their field of arms dealers and knew the harrowing horrors that raged outside their planet. Even the other children tried to tell her that her dream life might not be exactly what she envisioned, but her ideals were set. Her parents were kind but strict and never did anything that would bring harm to their only child.

Zali was only a small child when the pandemic tore through her planet, making everyone sick at first and then mutating when they found a cure. The new, more powerful strain mutated her people into horrendous monsters! Thanks to her parents being such innovators, they were able to survive for years on their own, still trying to shelter their daughter from real life. You see, Zali and her infinite idiocracy was somehow miraculously immune to the disease that ravaged her planet. Towards the end of their lives, Zali was secured in bunker that had never been used from what they could tell. When her parents had figured out that she was immune, they left her to try and gather what they would need to create a cure and possibly reverse what had happened to everyone.

They never returned. Zali grew up alone in that bunker, living a blissful lie built on what her parents had always taught her. After years, the creatures died out and when the screeching had finally stopped she emerged. Stepping over bodies, her mind not registering what they really were, she found a working submarine and left her planet to advunture the cosmos.
