About

A strong, determined and cheerful young woman, as well as a full-time fashion student, Mà’íve is worlds apart of everything she was meant to be. She has a circle of friends who she goes everywhere with and is very much a get-up-and-go type of person. She has been rocking the Ü-yu trend, a Belialan street fashion involving bright colours and slightly outlansish clothes.

Personality

Mà’íve is a very colourful and resolute person. She doesn't give up easily and is cheerful pretty much 24/7. Though she herself wears pretty much exclusively Ü-yu clothes, she is inspired by and likes to design looks for other fashion trends. It is her passion and she carries her design notebook wherever she goes, sketching new designs whenever she can. Whenever her friends are sad, she does everything in her power to cheer them up. Ironic, though, because she herself has smiling depresion that she takes medication for. She may not look it, but she is a bookworm and loves to curl up on a beanbag and read action and fantasy novels.

Design notes

Her hair reaches her shoulders, but just barely, and she usually keeps it in a messy bun or side ponytail. She occasionally wears makeup, though she usually never bothers as she can be incredibly lazy. Ü-yu involves bright and cheerful colours (that means minimal blacks, browns, greys, beiges etc.) on ordinary clothing modified to be Ü-yu (think white crop tops sewn on top of a brightly coloured long sleeved shirt, triple headbands all with a different bright colour, fingerless gloves with  colourful bands dyed on etc.)

Backstory

TRIGGER WARNING - EMOTIONAL AB*SE

Born as the older twin in a posh corner in the city of Ýhiméin-go, she and her sister had lofty expectations placed on them by their strict parents. From age six she was enrolled into piano classes and private English tuition, as well as being given classical Belialan books to replace her children's books. She quickly began to resent all of it and lashed out, so spent half her childhood from then on on on her porch with her head turned to the wall (a common Belialan punishment for naughty children). The constant punishments only made her hate the pressure and the forced extracurricular activities more, so she acted out more, being to young to understand the reason for them and why her parents were doing it all.

She started drifting apart from her twin, as, unlike her, she had actually taken all of this under her chin and became their parents' pride and joy, as well as beginning to look down on Mà’íve for being so rebellious. As a result, she started making rude and snappy quips often to Mà’íve. Their parents did nothing to stop this, though, simply telling Mà’íve that she brought it upon herself and that if she made more of an effort to uphold the family pride it wouldn't be happening, giving her sister the green light to gradually become more and more subtley abusive.

At around fourteen, she told her parents she had depression, and gave them her diagnostic letter (in Beliale doctors provide such a letter for a diagnosis) to prove it. They did not react well, however, saying she was playing the victim because she wanted to get away with rebelling against their expectations, and for months after they would ignore her completely, unless they were telling her to 'get over herself' and that it was what she deserved for 'forcing them to accept her selfish ways'.

As soon as she turned eighteen she moved out, crashing at a friend's place until she could move into student accommodation. Despite the abuse she remained cheerful and bubbly, maybe even more so becuase she didn't want to be like her family. She never cut contacts, though, as she still loved them, but they only talk about how dissapointed they are and how much better things could have been if she'd done what they wanted.
