→ Pre-HGSS events ← it is posible some details might change over time Originally from Kalos, jim was a happy-go-lucky kid, running around with the family's fennekin and having fun. As any kid, he started to travel around the region at 10, but had to leave it aside on his mid-teens to recieve compolsory militar training. After some years on the training camp, he was sent to aid Kanto's army during the war. Amid a mission, his delphox perished while protecting him from enemy fire and got shot on his leg and shoulder. He was retired from service after the event left him mentally scarred and unable to act on the fields. Once home, not only he had to deal with his injuries, but blamed himself for what happened and lost all self-confidence. Some years later, he moved to a tiny ruined cottage (which he repaired himself) on Johto's rute 49 in search of some peace and quiet, and started collaborating with prof.Elm and Oak on the starter project for income. He's known in the area for avoiding people as much as possible and the ocassional ruckus he and his pokémon create during his hand-on-hand training sessions.
→ HGSS events ← during HGSS events, he finds a young girl while patrolling around his home after hearing rumours of a massive ekans around the area. As it was getting dark, he invited her to come over for the night, and asked her about what was she doing near the woods by herself over dinner. After hearing what she had to say, he tried to discourage her- she was obviously too naïve, it was too dangerous for her, especially when the pokémon had become more and more aggresive during the last few years. Despite his efforts, she showed to be a really bullheaded girl, determined to go out there and find her lost friend no matter what. Unable to feel at ease with himself if he just let her go on her own, he gave her a pokémon to protect herself from an egg batch of his own partner, so it would fall outside the STARTER project², with the condition that, if she was really going to do it, she had to endure anything that might come and don't give up like he did. Once departed, he continued with his job and personal training. As time went by and the girl called over to report from time to time, she actually grew on him and found himself cheering on her achievements, as well as gaining back his own lost confidence. After everything was finally over, he offered Alice to teach her about the weird pokémon he had encountered on his youth, introducing her to both Kalos and Alola.

Events will be written once the games are released and completed by mois. ¹-I like to think that he is Kukui's father. This is a silly headcanon I adquired because of the similarities both characters share:A builded-up-but-not-bara body shape, tan skin and easy-going "droopy" eyes. But physical appeareance it's not the only thing they share. Jim is trying to figure out how to make his fire-type pokémon more resistant to rock and ground types by experimenting with moves. To do so, he basically wrestles with them to see how and where each of them build up their strength- Doesn't this sound like Kukui's investigation method? Well. Jim's been doing this officially for almost a year if not more before Kukui's release. Ask my friends if you don't believe me. But, yeah, rather garystu, but major headcanon. ²-Jim is one of the type-experts lending a hand on the STARTER project by breeding endangered pokémon and sending them to the pokémon professors they collaborate with so they can handle them over to new trainers. In his case, he breeds cyndaquils and charmanders. He refuses to rise fennekins despite being originally from Kalos.
