Being a Venari is not the best start one could have in the world. And being born a blind Venari just makes it that much worse. Kori had been shuffled from household to household, each time having to endure undeserved punishment for his blindness and each time with the hope that he would not get thrown away too quickly. After years of this cycle, he finally was able to stay with a single master for a few years. He thought he had finally found a place he could call his own. But then he was suddenly thrown out. To be more precise, he was sold. His buyer? The Nightstalkers.

He was given to Eldrin, an experienced Nightstalker who worked in the organization as the torture master. Kori's question of why he was bought so suddenly was soon revealed to him after he was presented before Eldrin. Eldrin went through Venari slaves like no other Nightstalker, this was probably due to his extensive experimentation to find new and better torture techniques. And while Eldrin had healing magic to repair the damage he would cause, most Venari could not last more than half a year. With Kori's history of longterm abuse, the Nightstalkers hoped he would have the endurance to last longer while under Eldrin's care. And so far, he has. He has lasted the longest out of all his predecessors much to the delight of his new master. And while the torture experiments are so very painful, the joy and delight in his master's eyes are enough to satisfy Kori. He finally has a place to belong and he can finally be useful.
