Blue Green Fire Opal, aka: "BG" is a young Homeworld gem who is still learning the ins and outs of Earth. Sure he hadn't had such a great start considering he kidnapped Idocrase, a member of Team Galaxy. But even after all the torment and pain the pair went through because of him, Ido and BG became friends. Things are fine between them, however not so fine with most of the other gems on Gem Island with that big fat Diamond on his chest in the middle of a Crystal Gem colony. But hey, he's trying his best to make it work!

A defective Blue Green Fire Opal who often stands out more than he should in all the wrong ways. Because of his role as a servant being far from the warrior instincts coded inside him, along with dealing with bigger and better gems on a usual basis who wouldn't hesitate to point out his flaws, BG developed an inferiority complex. He despises how he was created "wrong" and he beats himself up over his mistakes more harsh than he should. BG also has hella bad luck and is very clumsy, a dangerous combination that has gotten him into trouble many times. BG is very bad at keeping things to himself, such as important information, secrets, and generally has no filter.

Still, despite all, he tries his best with what he does and has a intense desire to prove himself to his superiors and/or friends. He is extremely loyal and cares very deeply about things, even if he has a hard time showing it. And he often tries to go above and beyond to either prove himself right, do something to better his name, or help a friend. However, as he's still young and still learning, he's often figuring out things the hard way.

Defective gems can be as quirky as ever, assuming their defects are physical, that is. Along with his mis-matched eyes, elongated shaped gemstone, and extremely shortened stature, BG's colors aren't exactly screaming "Fire Opal", it's no wonder most gems don't know what he is upon first glance. True to that, while most Fire Opals stick to the basic uniform to not impede their work, BG has taken it upon himself to stand out even more in comparison to his kind. Unfortunately, he has absolutely no fashion sense and tends to adopt outfit ideas from other gems he meets. More recently he's taken on his own design, but there's still reminants in his outfit based off impactful gems he's encountered.

BG still has some difficulty reading, and his writing is even worse, but with the aid of some of his friends he's picked up most of the basics and can make it through well enough. See, upon being formed, he wasn't developed with the ability to read and write like most other gems are programmed by default. Fortunately, he's lasted this long without really needing to do either. It's just nice to know what the signs say for once.

He's doing well so far, making it on his own, but he's still quite a bit flighty because he's still trying to find a place where he truly belongs. BG's nervous tics are fidgeting with his scarf, shuffling his feet, avoiding eye contact, and, more recently, placing his hands over his gemstone. After these signs, if he grows more uncomfortable, then he gets angry and defensive and its game over for everyone.

BG is quite the character. He's a salty little defect with major inferiority complex who tries his best to make a name for himself despite him being given a low rank. But he does it anyway because he doesn't want Homeworld to break him.

BG is rude, arrogant, selfish, prideful and he loves to brag. He talks a lot of shit to anyone he can and has a generally unlikable attitude. BG also is very, very bad at keeping things to himself, such as important information and secrets. But apart from being an outwardly nasty little spitfire, on the inside he's just as bad to himself. He despises how he was created "wrong" and he beats himself up over his mistakes more harsh than he should. BG also has hella bad luck and is very clumsy, a dangerous combination that has gotten him into trouble many times.

BG still has a intense desire to prove himself to his superiors or those he sees as in charge. He goes above and beyond what is expected of him- even if in most cases it doesn't get him anywhere. Despite White Diamond giving him a shit job and Homeworld not letting him move up in his ranks or be what he was meant to be, BG was extremely loyal to Homeworld. They created him, and though he was made wrong they didn't break him and allowed him to do something with himself. To that he originally believed he was bound to them and them alone, however after all of the stress and drama he had endoured in their name, hearing the stories from other perspectives, he doesn't know what to believe in any more.

As far as being physically affectionate, BG isn't too fond of being touched in any sort of way. Before he'd left homeworld, the only physical treatment he would ever receive was the negative sort. He was beat up, tossed around, abused, bullied, mocked, mistreated, and damaged to the point where he'd nearly broke. So naturally any sort of physical touch would be looked at the wrong way. However after he'd joined earth and met some gems, he'd slowly begin to change his mind about physical affections. Now, Mr Dont Touch Me Or I'll Scream, doesn't mind headpats, hand holds, and even hugs from the right individuals. Lately, however, these are far and few between, so BG is slowly losing his ability to accept affection once more.

TRIVIA

• No surprise but his main fact/detail is that he's hella defective. Fire Opals (in my headcanon) are elite soldier-type gems that are built huge and strong and very powerful. They're heavy hitters and have magical abilities (fire) so they're super scary to have a throw down with... BG, however, is small, scrawny, and cant even lift brah..
• BG was meant to be shattered upon formation but when his 'big reveal' to the higher up that commissioned his creation happened, two of the Diamonds had attended. Blue took pity on him and his defective siblings and White repurposed him specifically into her court to work as a servant for a gem named Natrolife.
• Another one of BG's defects is that he doesn't know how to read. Natrolite never bothered with teaching him, simply because as a servant he didn't have to. She didn't trust him with any of her paperworks anyway. No joke, he probably had burned some of her important documents or something which was why he was supposed to be banned from paper, not like it'd stop him from using paper for his own personal use.
• Instead of writing, BG took interest in art. Natrolite likes the finer things so BG has been around arts and fancy things for quite a long time. He found (note: stole) a sketchbook once and taught himself how to draw on it. Of course showing his art to anyone is out of the question, Natrolite would get angry with him for doodling and slacking off, so he keeps all his art safe in his gem. He loves to draw and he draws really well. He can draw still life scenery and portraits the best.
• BG doesn't sleep. He can and he will if he absolutely has to, he just doesn't like to. BG's had a rather rough life since the very beginning. With being told right after popping out of the ground that he was supposed to die, it kinda fucks one's mental state a little bit. Then being reassigned to something he wasn't meant to do, ridiculed and bullied because of it, on top of being defected and looked at like he's disgusting. He doesn't sleep because his imagination takes all of his bad memories and thoughts and warps them into nightmares. Every time he sleeps he has bad dreams and in almost every one of them he ends up getting hurt or dying, so he just avoids sleeping so he doesn't have to deal with the night terrors.
• BG acts tough and often seems antisocial like he hates everyone, but he's actually scared and anxious all the time about how others view him. He's loud and obnoxiously angry all the time because he wants to be noticed, he craves attention, and longs to be accepted for who and what he is. He just has absolutely no idea how to handle it when he's actually getting any kind of affection or praise.
