Kaika

They were born into two different desert families that were living in unstable harmony, as there was a history of betrayal between them but they had to rely on each other as the resources in the desert were hard to obtain.
Nelai and Kaika met when they were kittens and played together a lot, forming a strong bond in the process.
Back when they were still smol, they both didn't have the feet and face markings they have today, as they got them permanently painted on as part of their marriage ritual.
The families hoped their marriage would mark the end of the fear of distrust, but only a few moons later, a very valuable heirloom of Kaikas family got stolen and of course they suspected Nelais family who assured it wasn't them and of course they didn't believe them.
Because of this incident, all the built up anger and distrust exploded and lead to a family war.
Kaika trusted Nelai when he promised it wasn't one of them, and Kaika tried to calm down her family but it was too late to stop them from their blind rage which now turned on her and her husband.
Scared for their life, they fled over the sea and found shelter on the island Aldora.
They later moved to the bigger island Aldor and now live there in a colony with multiple native mothcats.
