Once an idealist young adult, an awry time in the military and general life has soured Booker’s outlook on the world. As of nowadays, he wanders with no true destination or ambition in mind. Perhaps, he is looking for something concrete to put his faith in once more.

About

Appearance

Booker is a grizzled, tall and stocky (6’2”) middle-aged man with golden-brown long hair styled in a mullet and amber eyes. He also has stubble on his face and dark shadows under his eyes. Due to his werecat heritage, he has a pair of brown tabby cat ears and a tail.

Booker tends to wear plain t-shirts, khakis or jeans and combat boots. He often wears his military jacket. In his right ear, he wears a gold hoop.

As a werecat, Booker has two were-forms he can change into. The first is a bulky and tall (8’1”) bipedal tabby cat monster with pupilless and glowing orange eyes. The second is an oversized tabby cat with the same kind of eyes as his first form.

Personality

Booker is grumbly and mostly stoic and is generally not a “people person”. He is also naturally wary and cautious, rarely lending out his trust. This often makes him appear unapproachable but, while he has a tendency to complain, is up for conversation. He has little patience for people who waste his time and will tell you as much, as he often speaks his mind and doesn’t have much of a filter. He has a soft spot for the younger generation, especially those either magically-inclined or Noxchildren and considers it his job to pass on his wisdom. He will help you though will grumble through it. While he subscribes to the concept of tough love, he doesn’t believe in doing so to an abusive extent.

History

Booker grew up in a coven of werecats and because of this, was able to harness and learn about his powers from a young age. He eventually moved away from home, craving freedom and this eventually led him to enlist in the military. The idealist in his younger self saw this as a way of protecting what he loved but he didn’t hold these beliefs for long. Between the traumatizing sights he saw, the horrific acts he refused to commit (but ended up having to anyway), he ended up becoming soured and jaded. Many of his fellow soldiers were not fond of him due to him speaking out against what they did and soon enough, he was a target.

Eventually, someone caught a glimpse of him at the latter end of one of his transformations and attacked him. While he made it out alive, he injured his fellow soldier. Between that and his assailant's reports that “he was a monster”, he was quickly and quietly discharged as to not cause hysteria. While the formal explanation was because his orientation, he knew the true reason which only added to his disillusionment for his government and people as a whole.

He attempted to return home and settle down but found himself restless. So he left home with no true goal or destination, skipping from town to town and only staying in each for a time before he moves on again.

Skills

Booker, as a werecat, has above-average strength and endurance. His military background also makes him a very capable fighter and handy with weapons (though he typically only carries a knife). As a Noxchild, his inhuman characteristics do not appear to those who cannot see past the Veil.

As a werecat, he transforms every new moon into a large cat creature. However, his experience has also granted him a secondary form in the form of a more typical, albeit oversized tabby cat. He can also assume both forms when he likes, health and endurance permitting.

Trivia

  • Like all werefolk, silver irritates his skin.
  • Booker originates from a dream in which he was a werecat who rescued a girl from her neglectful and abusive parents.
