Born to a banker and his young heiress wife, Esme's early life was known most for the parade of nannies her mother hired to oversee her.

Miss Felicity West had wanted a boy to inherit her wealth, and was sorely disappointed to see she had a daughter instead. Still, she didn't want to abuse the poor thing, so she kept her distance. The person that Esme saw most consistently was her father, and so, Esme developed an admiration for her father that some could even call starstruck.

A hobby that developed during her youth was drawing, and she was very talented with a pen. Indeed, even while working in a library for a few years, she sold her drawings on the side.

This was how she met Joey Drew.

He praised her talent and portfolio, and requested that she join the studio. She accepted the offer, joining the studio and becoming one of the inkers there, even being one of the people to ink "Sent From Above".

While she impressed the men in the studio with her work, though, she found herself being highly critical of the women. Susie was clearly a dame aiming to bring down the studio! Allison was just naive to allow Susie to walk all over her! That toon Alice will surely bring the ratings down!

When Miracle's jilting of Alice occurred, Joey called Esme into his office. Surely one of the people who had inked "Sent From Above" would be a marvelous backup Alice!

Too bad he mistook dedication for her work as a connection to a character.
