The only daughter of a wealthy family, Isabelle Piper was a child who was quickly fast-tracked into learning how to be a proper wife. However, her pluckishness had to be ground down, her mother taking the charming girl and foisting on lesson after lesson, while her father punished her for daring to stray from their strict guidelines. As a result, she was known as a crybaby by most of her peers, and further alienated from them.

By the time she was ten years old, she was fully aware of her purpose: to be the perfect bride, wife, and mother.

When she was of marrying age, her parents sought to find many suitors, and most simply didn't impress her parents terribly. This one looked charming, but failed his father's business; this one was intelligent, but lacking in looks. Isabelle grew more and more despondent with each failure, her kind heart wanting to make someone happy.

That was when Sammy Lawrence entered the picture, a charming genius whose behavior impressed those around him. Having dined with fine musicians, it was only a matter of time before the Piper house would see his presence once more.

Their marriage was inevitable.

Joey offered Sammy a job as music director, but it didn't take long at all for Isabelle to find terrible news on her shoulders: she was barren, and could never have children biologically. Her dreams crushed, she mourned the children she'd never be able to adore and cherish.

Although Sammy left her for days and weeks on end, she was still ready to greet him with open arms when he came home ---- but eventually, she found that he'd simply disappeared, and resolved to find him.

Too bad Joey got to her first.
