Harley Starley

Nimbus Nymph was a young toon whose father was a former boss in the form of a storm, and her mother a mere toon woman trying to make ends meet; thanks to this union, an air nymph was conceived, although Nimbus rarely saw her father. However, she still bears his touch in her very name, and she cherishes it. After all, her father's a very busy man, upkeeping the storms around Inkwell Isles and surrounding areas!

She was a shy girl, tending to be drawn more to the life of adventure rather than the companionship of others. Her mother tried to steer her clear of the wrong side of the tracks, but it wasn't until her late teens that she finally crossed them, heading to the Devil's Casino.

Similar to most who found their fates, she excelled quite easily at the craps table, but rolled snake eyes ---- she begged the Devil for her life, saying that she would give anything. The few powers she had over the air, her freedom, her service, anything. The Devil decided to take upon her services, but warned her: should Nimbus ever terminate her part of the bargain without his permission, he would have her soul.

A contract was written, and she signed it fearfully, the Devil's seal being stamped on it before her very eyes. It was official. She was the Devil's property now.

At first, she was scared and unsure about what to do ---- King Dice tried sticking her in various areas, before deciding to stick her with the dancers. As cheery and confident as they were, surely they'd rub off on little Nimbus before too long!

And he was right. They did.

Too well.

It took several months under the dancers that she took on the name Harley Starley, with her main act being that she was "sent from the sky" for the sole purpose of entertaining the Devil's patrons. Indeed, her confidence and handling of her act allowed her to be a stage act, one during the prime hours of the night, and it was as if Nimbus Nymph was no longer present in her ---- but oh, she was. She was waiting for a chance for her contract to be broken.

The Devil's contract on her kept her in fear, though, until one day ---- she'd had enough, stealing away with the contract the Devil wrote up for her, and going into hiding and fearing the day the Devil would take her soul. By the time the boys met up with her, well, she was certainly ready for a fight!

After Cuphead, she has resumed her service at the Casino without fear of the Devil, although she snickers over the Devil's anger towards her. With her freedom, however, she now lives with her mother once more, a much happier woman than she was while living in the Casino ---- although her mother still worries for her little girl, she at least has the assurance that the Devil won't be taking her soul any time soon!
