The leader of the new rebellion, "Sunset" was once a member of Pink Diamond's court. However, she saw a future where Pink Diamond was exposed for being Rose Quartz, and attempted to speak to Pink about the vision -- unfortunately, she was poofed for this fact by Pink, and was unpoofed by the Diamonds after the events of Change Your Mind.

"Wait, why is she a Crystal Gem?" The truth is that Sunset had been feeding information to Rose Quartz's troops in the background as an informant; since she was a Sapphire, she was able to cover her tracks effectively enough to prevent detection.

In a sense, she had been betrayed by both her Diamond and the leader she had supported.

Upon being unpoofed and being told her vision was correct, she attempted to attack whoever was in range -- before escaping. Her anger and bitterness towards the new Era 3 began to peak as she recruited more Gems into her cause.
