• Cow is a selective mute and most folks probably haven't even heard his voice—he usually responds with nods, head shaking, his eyes (squinting, staring, etc.), and sometimes a smile
• He used to have a little, black plastic nose, but it was pulled off a long time ago (and as a result, Cow can't smell anything, but this doesn't seem to bother him)
• He appears to be soothed by jazz music and is particularly fond of jazz from the 1920s–30s 
• No one really knows why Cow always wears a ragged ribbon, but perhaps it's a bittersweet, sort of nostalgic, reminder of the past

• His nose is missing; the lines you see are just threads where it used to be
• His ears are usually flopped down and the "insides" of them are nonexistent—they are just solid navy blue
• His bow damaged; it is missing a loop on the left side and the left ribbon is shorter than the right
• There are visible seams on his body to indicate that he is a teddy bear
• You can draw eyebrows on him if you feel it necessary for conveying expressions

Cow is a little bear as mysterious as his name. Aside from knowing he hails from Poland, no one really knows where he came from or how he gets places. Although he is not mute, he doesn't talk much which makes even his voice a mystery to most people—some speculate that it's actually people he doesn't speak English very well! They don't know where he got his name or why it's Cow. They also don't know why he refuses to remove the aged ribbon he's had around his neck since he was manufactured. To make it simple, they don't know who, what, where, when or why, but they do know he's here and that's what they've come to accept. Although Cow means no harm, his appearance and silence often frighten others. His missing nose and strange plastic teeth look odd to other teddies, plus he has quite a habit of wordlessly staring with his big eyes. Needless to say, a lot of people he comes across are uncomfortable around the little bear, but he means no harm. He may not be much of a talker, but perhaps he's a great listener. Please note that his age is based on the date he was manufactured, not his mental and/or physical age.
