Dusty's Links
Dusty once considered Maiya a wonderful and loving sister, a best friend, someone who shared her dreams. However, Maiya took her grief and frustration out on Dusty, and forever changed their dynamic and relationship.
Maiya absolutely despised Dusty, as she considered her a ‘backstabber’ who took away any care she should have received following a tragedy in her life. Everyone was more focused on Dusty’s new baby than with Maiya.
Dusty always felt weird around Annabelle. She found it strange that Annabelle wanted to play the same roles as them as children, instead of taking on a more masculine role (as this was before she transitioned), which meant she and Maiya distances themselves from Annabelle as much as possible. Eventually, when she was an adult and after Annabelle transitioned, she realised she was wrong to treat Anna differently, and planned a proper reconciliation. But that reconciliation would never happen.
Annabelle had mixed feelings towards Dusty for a long time. She was always left out in the games that Dusty and Maiya played when they were children, and constantly refused to acknowledge her existence due to one minute difference between the two. They never had a real chance to bond, because Dusty was gone before she ever got to apologise and reconcile with Annabelle. This impacted how Annabelle grieved, and she struggled to find meaning in their relationship when she never thought there was any, but decided to move through it and partake in the investigation.
