About

Early Life

Haywood was born in Irnfora - a lush and forested region. His family consisted of his parents, and two younger sisters. They were a very close-knit bunch, and served as navigators for the Hunter Exam as a group. Haywood detested the work, but he did it all the same. He grew up with a knack for building and making his own things. He sews his own clothes, and clothes or blankets for his sisters. He also greatly enjoys music, and has built his own violin from scratch. Perhaps due to the nature of Kirikos, Haywood also enjoys stealing from local villages and pestering humans. As a whole, he finds people to be overly arrogant and uppity, and even more so when it comes to Hunters. Nevertheless, Haywood spent almost all of his life in Irnfora, relishing in his freedoms and the rivers and mountains his region had to offer.

At the age of 27, Haywood and his family were temporarily relocated to New Dorset for the Hunter Exam. While there, a rogue applicant tore Haywood's life apart. At the end of everything, Haywood was left orphaned and had no other options but to flee. He flew south - not knowing where he was going - while sustaining grave injuries.

Illomaar

Haywood's escape brought him flying over the Xaset region, where he was caught in a brutal snowstorm. Succumbing to the harsh winds, he crash lands in the depths of the woods only to be found by Feffin. She nurses him back to health, and he finds himself in the remote village of Illomaar. The applicant's attacks left him with many scars, and he began to cover his left hand and forearm with a glove - ashamed of the mangled and ugly mess it became. As he recovers, he manages to get Feffin to teach him Nen. His newfound powers leave him drunken and arrogant. He slowly turns on Feffin, and begins causing trouble for her and all of Illomaar.

Personality

The incident with the applicant in New Dorset left Haywood callous, vengeful, and violent. Beforehand, he was still quick to anger, but not to the same extent. His temper leads him to making snap decisions that usually end in some form of bloodshed. He's grown to be very destructive, and has little interest in forming bonds with anyone. Begrudgingly, he has a soft spot for Feffin, but would never let anyone figure that out. Even still, he is likely to betray anyone for his own gain, and his stubbornness makes it near impossible to get through to him. Only serious self-reflection can spark any change in him, and he hardly allows himself the chance to do that. Beneath it all, Haywood is a sly trickster, and anyone he'd allow to become close with him would know that. He will never be very open to physicality, and he would have a hard time referring to anyone as his "friend" even if they were by definition. The family that was taken from him left a hole in his heart that will likely never be filled, but, over time, there may be people he will allow to re-fill some of that space.

Nen Abilities

The Nen training he received from Feffin was short-lived (at his own hand). Being a Kiriko, he had a natural edge at learning techniques like Zetsu, but he struggled to form a consistently powerful Hatsu. As it stands, Haywood infuses his Nen with the music he plays - and this allows him to either put his listeners to sleep, or lull them into a sleep-walking state that he can control. How effective this technique is depends on how close the listener is to his music, and how resistant their own aura is.

One very rusty and untrained technique he has is to be able to control the dreams of someone he puts to sleep. With as little training as he went through, this technique often fails. Haywood is painfully aware of how unreliable his own Nen is, but will still abuse the power any chance he has.

Kiriko Form

Haywood's Kiriko form holds many intriguing points. He is slightly mutated in the sense he possesses two tails rather than one, and was born with a rear, fourth claw on his feet. He was the largest of his family, and he quickly became the strongest flyer and overall is much faster than most other Kirikos. These natural advantages often swell his head, and make him all the more cocky.
