Profile

HUMANS
The most common beings in Hadea. They knowingly coexist with other species and their level of tolerance varies.

noteworthy humans: Noah Gentry, Harold-Ulysses Clyde, Minthe Momota, Atsuyo Fukasawa, Mo

PROPHETS

Most people don't know prophets exist, or they interpret them as charlatans. These humans have the ability to see into the future. The depth to which they see depends on the human. These visions most often appear as dreams, but some see visions in their waking life as sudden flashbacks. It takes a great amount of effort to summon visions. Prophets tend to not out themselves, as Phineas Sharp declared himself the first prophet when Hadea began.

noteworthy prophets: Anderson, Wilbert Cooley, Azura

MEDIUMS

Mediums are humans that have the ability to see other planes of existence, most often ghosts or visual manifestations of people's thoughts and emotions. These tend to be visual only, but some only have auditory ability. Mediums have had a history of being institutionalized and therefore are quiet, much like prophets.

noteworthy mediums: Ruby Klecko, Marlise Gentry

DEVILS (INFRA POPULUS)
The second most common beings in Hadea. Like Samaritans, they have no definite biblical ties. Devil is an all-encompassing term that houses many subspecies. These subspecies face varying degrees of hostility. They have intellect on par with humans and are capable of having complex morality just like humans.

HORNED DEVILS (CORNITUM)

Beings recognized by their horns and other animalistic attributes.  They have a harder time disguising their attributes which results in harassment. These horns can resemble rams, bulls, cows, and many other animals.

noteworthy horned devils: Mother Mairead, Cedric Mairead, Levi Armitage, Diane Van Ark, Junebug
FAUNS (FAUNUS)

Fauns are devils that closely resemble deer, sheep, and goats. They have satyr-like legs, and often have deer-like ears and antlers. Fauns are stereotyped to be demure and submissive. They require special services like custom clothing and furniture.

noteworthy faun: Gretel Rosenblatt, Goosefoot, Oscar Velásquez, Vic Velásquez

VAMPIRES (OS CULTRO)

Vampires are beings with sharp teeth and a severe iron deficiency. They are able to eat raw meat without health risks. They are not against feeding on humans consensually. They don't have the privilege to not be on their best behavior, as one bad apple will be used by humans to paint all vampires as predatory. Some vampires have adapted to using highly potent iron supplements that only the high-class can afford.

noteworthy vampires: Trinity, Naim Lilinthaal, Honora Maggio

GHOULS (PALLIDI)

Ghouls are the least common of devils. They are characterized by sickly skin and completely blackened eyes. Through evolution, they emit pheromones that distress others as a survival tactic. This has caused them to be outcast, even by other devils. While they can eat normal food, they gain the most sustenance through the emotions of other people, positive and negative. This irony has led to most ghouls being malnourished.

noteworthy ghouls: Metanoia Villanova, Nilo Villanova, Pippa Foss

SAMARITANS (AVEM POPULUS)

Beings that resemble angels. They are recognizable by their wings and numerous eyes which they can disguise temporarily. There’s no evidence to suggest they come from God. On the social food chain, they are at the top and benefit from an immense amount of privilege. Unlike devils, they don't have subspecies and are fairly homogeneous. All identify as genderless but can be amab, afab, feminine, masculine, androgynous, and gender non-conforming. They have the same amount of intelligence, moral complexity, and empathy as devils and humans

No samaritan is allowed to be named Phineas after the Goodpoole Slaughter of 1659.

noteworthy samaritans: Dr. Avaset Skinner, Hale Halifax, Godfrey Tobüren, Jack Hubershaw, Ari Blackburn, Mercy Kubiak, Prospertine Dollamore, Tobias Blevins, Millicent Plaza, Cynthia Slaughter

THE UNDEAD
Everybody dies, but some people stick around, and some try to live again.

GHOSTS

Beings who have died and can be perceived by mediums. No one knows why ghosts exist or if there's any religious affiliation.

noteworthy ghosts: Ffion Lilinthaal, Adam Lovelace, Huxley Savage

DOLLS

These are ghosts who have been able to inhabit a physical form, artificially made. Dolls are incredibly few in number, but they hope to someday be recognized as citizens. After all, it's difficult to prove you are the same person who is now six feet under--or worse--cremated.

noteworthy dolls: Cinderella

ANOMALIES (LUSUS NATURAE)

Beings conceived by a devil and a samaritan or two different types of devils (ex. cornitum and pallidi). Devil and samaritan offspring are unpredictable, able to have some mutations. They're not as well researched due to rarity and lingering stigma. Despite this, they are capable of living healthy lives. A lot of them are isolated from society for their own protection.

noteworthy anomalies: Judith Motherwell, Idan Calibur, Mother Concepta, Madisyn
