Reed is a scary person at a glance. He is extremely large and quiet, and he has the mechanical features that are typically only seen in warbots. Even though he is a pacifist, the fact that he carries a sword, and can confidently survive alone on the cusp of the wilderness, and that very few dare to cross him can only mean that he carries great power, if not authority over the lands. On a more personal level, he is a gentle and patient person who almost has a paternal side of him not seen by many.

Summary

Reed was born in a refugee camp during the Second Fall of civilization with only a single mother and older sister. He traveled with the two of them to wherever they needed to be to escape war and disaster. While he was a teenager, they had a comfortable life at a settlement that was located on clean soil, where he learned botany and how to farm for resources. He learned a great number of things from old databases of information about chemistry and ecology, and found himself actually enjoying what he was doing, even if it was for survival.

This peace was short lived, and their settlement eventually became poisoned by nearby chemical warfare, and while they desperately tried to save it, they were unable to. His mother became ill, and him and his sister struggled to take care of her while on the move. Eventually she passed away, and he moved along with his sister, where they found another settlement to join.

Reed joined the settlement soldiers to protect what little good land was left, and his sister ended up finding a life partner. By this time they were in their mid twenties, and his sister decided to leave the settlement with a small group of people to start anew elsewhere. Reed escorted them as far as he could to keep them safe, but ultimately chose to stay behind so he could help more people.

It was during one of these battles that he lost his arm, and it was replaced with a mechanical one. As he kept up the fight over the next couple of years, more and more parts of him were replaced with robotics. As the settlement continued to grow, the politics surrounding the internal workings of the growing society began to become less and less ethical, and different groups of people began to turn in on one another. Greed was beginning to overtake who were originally utilitarian leaders, and became of the selfishness of a few in power, the settlement began to crumble.

By this time, more than half of his body had been replaced by mechanics. Unable to take being used for causes he didn't support anymore, he left to try and find his sister. It took many years, but eventually he gave up on finding her. Instead of trying to find another settlement or camp, he realized he was strong enough to survive on his own, so he broke away from all civilizations.

He spent a number of years in isolation, only emerging from the wilderness to repair his body on occasion. Eventually his body failed him, and he was revived by a traveling merchant who took him in. She was with her partner, and two of his very young kids. They insisted on taking him with them until he could get repaired, and he agreed, and helped protect them on their journey and even watched the kids. The three of them had a good chemistry that eventually even turned romantic, and even after his body was fixed, he stayed with them for their journeys.

After a while though, it became too hard on his partners to travel, and one of them began to grow ill. So using the knowledge he collected over the years, they found a settlement and he started a farm on the small outskirts. His partners grew too old and ill, and eventually died, and the children eventually moved away. He didn't leave his farmland, and continued to expand it, even as the numbers in the settlement started to dwindle as news of the wars ending began to spread. People were leaving to go back to the bigger, more prosperous places, and to escape the growing wilderness around them.

The lands that Reed has created have grown significantly over time, and people have started returning to the settlement. The times of peace seem like they will stay for some time now, and Reed still has no interest in leaving. He has lived for several lifetimes now, but he knows he likely will not live for another lifetime longer. He just wants to give to those who are in need, and live the rest of his days in the peace and stability he has spent most of his life searching for.
