Cardan

Cardan was deemed to be a harbringer of ill luck after his birth and does not have the best reputation with other Boucles for he is known to be manipulative, prideful and sarcastic; cruel even. He struggles to understand others and his own emotions which has caused him to develop a habit of covering his true feelings with a mask of sneers and sarcastic remarks that do nothing to correct his image. Unlike his siblings, Cardan does not not have an interest in the family crown and is not skilled in combat, according to him his redeeming quality is that he is not a murderer. Despite his masks, he does occasionally show a softer side filled with fear, shame and care. Known for his charm and wit, he uses these abilities to slyly escape danger and trouble (usually caused by him in the first place) and is a sweet talker, charming and entertaining a crowd. As a Prince, he knows what his expected of him and that he must push aside his wants for the family - he is skilled at playing the fool to disguise his cleverness.

As the sixth and youngest child of the King, he has no interest in competing with his siblings for his father's favour or the throne. His mother found children to be irritating and neglected him as a colt, he often tried to gain her attention but to no luck - the only time he could get her attention was when he would pick fights with the older colts, as his mother would find this entertaining and only gave him her approval when he was awful and cruel. Cardan had to learn to fend for himself from a young age, stealing sips of cat milk to sustain himself and after his mother left, he was placed into the care of his older brother who was just as cruel and unrelenting, perhaps even more so.
