Noctis's most defining trait would be their solitary nature. The cat isn't rude or unlikable, they just prefer to be alone. Noctis feels no need to have feline companionship. The only cat she ever wanted to walk beside her is no longer here, and nobody could ever take her mother's place. Noctis's mother instilled a great deal of pride in her child, nicknamed "Moonborn". As such, Noctis has never felt the need to hide her powers, making her an outcast to most cats, not that Noctis minds.
Noctis's mother taught her all about the history of the world, including the Seers, whom they, like most witches, revere. Even after her death, Noctis continues her mother's work, trying to learn as much as she can about how the world came to be abandoned. Surely if she discovered the cause then the world could be fixed. But she dares not hope that she could restore her mother back to life, as that would delve into magic that was not hers, and her mother always warned her against taking from the earth.
In her solitude, Noctis spends most of her time tending her herb garden or scowering nearby forests and plains for rare, undiscovered herbs. Some fearless cats have been known to approach the young witch for remedies, but more often for poisons. She likes the cats who come for poisons better though, because the sight and smell of blood makes her sick. However, Noctis doesn't interact much with these visitors, impersonally giving them what they want and going on with her day.
Despite how much Noctis loved her mother and strives to be like her, it comes more from a place of envy than inspiration. Aisling was everything Noctis is not: bright, brave, intelligent, the list goes on. They only wish they had a fraction of her mother's vast light. Often thinking that if she is the moon, then her mother was the sun, lending Noctis her light, for she has none of her own. Noctis constantly overlooks her own merits to wish for her mother's.
She can be patient though, and hope that one day she will achieve the same greatness. It is her only passion in life now that her mother is gone. For a long time she wished for revenge, until she finally realized that wouldn't make her mother happy. She busies herself every day with puzzles and creative outlets, training her mind now that her powers are gone and it is her only asset.
Noctis's fatal flaw would be her hedonistic nature. There is no doubt that she likes to feel good, accomplished, and cherished, even if she believes she will not find these things in relationships with other cats. Temptation and curiousity are a constant problem in her life, getting her into trouble more often than not. And yet there is one temptation that she staunchly resists - curses.
Strengths
- The Garden. Noctis was taught all about the different uses for herbs, and also for poisons. She is also experienced in planting them and taking care of a garden. +3 Nature.
- Butterfly's Dream. Noctis studied magic indepth and has always had a keen interest in the small sciences. +3 Arcana.
- The Witch's Daughter. Unbenounced to her, Noctis had a blessing placed upon her via a curse right before she died. The blessing is a spirit bound to her as a protective charm, it is benevolent and speaks to her sometimes. The spirit will occationally reflect incoming attacks and Noctis gains +3 Perception
Weaknesses
- The Moon Will Sing. Noctis has lost both parts of her identity: her powers and her mother, and is lacking a sense of self. They will struggle to connect with other cats or help them. How can Noctis help others when they don't even know who they are anymore? -3 Persuasion.
- Tongues & Teeth. She likes to indulge in pleasures and praise, and is easy to influence. -3 Resistance
- Daughter of the Moon. Noctis is proud of her power and heritage, she would never hide it even if that meant exposure. -3 Deception

Summary
- Born to a single mother who was a proud witch during an eclipse, gaining her the nickname Moonborn.
- Early life was a peaceful existance with just the two of them until an earthquake destroyed their home and they had to leave.
- They came to live in a burrow not far from a village and while her mother was out hunting, two kits came across their home and one ate a belladonna plant. Noctis tried and tried to revive her with her powers, but the kit was gone. The villagers blamed Noctis for the child's death and chased them away.
- Finally coming to a new home, the pair were once again the target of witch hunting. Aisling was killed in exchance for Noctis's life. But when Noctis returned to try and bury her mother's body, the mob threw her off a cliff.
History
Noctis was born as the single surviving kitten of her litter to her mother, lone witch Aisling. Aisling had come from a distant colony that had tolerated her practicing the small science for a time, until their opinion on magic plummeted and Aisling was chased out. Not that Aisling had much attachment to them, though she did like one practice. Aisling had been her private name in the colony, with her public name being Sunborn, for having been born during the long days of summer under a blazing sun. So when her child was born during a solar eclipse, it seemed like the moon was sending a message as it covered the sun over her newborn child. She was Moonborn.
The loss of most of her litter was devistating for Aisling Sunborn, but that was all the more reason for her to dote on Noctis. The father was not in the picture, just some wandering fancy she'd had for a single night, and with as much as Aisling loved her child, Noctis never felt the ache for a second parent.
They'd settled down in an old hermit's cabin, worn and reclaimed by the earth. It was isolated, but it was home. Noctis was a quiet child, but very clever and curious. She learned quickly and Aisling began her education early, especially once Noctis showing signs of having the potential for manipulating matter at the young age of two months old. Aisling knew there was nothing genetic about the potential, but she couldn't help but feel proud that Noctis was a heartrender just like her.
Aisling taught Noctis a great many things - herbalism, star-reading, history, and most importantly: the ways of witches like them. Raising Noctis alone in that hovel with no exposure to the outside world, Aisling wanted her child to be proud. So for those first few months before the harsh world came knocking, Noctis lived in an ideal world where her powers were a gift from the great Seers and there was nothing to be ashamed of.
But their peace couldn't last forever. Shortly after Noctis turned five months old, and earthquake accompanied that night's red sky and falling sensation, ripping their paradise in half. Aisling spared a moment to mourn their little home before she had to step up. She allowed Noctis to pick one flower from the garden and they had to leave. Noctis picked not a flower, but a belladona stem.
Aisling promised Noctis that they would find a new home soon. She promised and yet... it seemed like everywhere they went was unsuitable. It was shocking to both of them because Aisling had allowed herself to almost forget about the state of the world and for Noctis it was he first exposure to what the world was really like. She was a strong and obediant child, or so she wanted to be. But the walking was taking its toll. Her pads cracked and she was always tired, but she dared not complain. She had to keep being her mother's proud, resiliant witch. It wasn't that Aisling was abusive - the opposite in fact. Noctis loved her so much that she dared not disappoint her.
Eventually they did find another home. An abandoned fox den near a field with good soil. But it didn't come without its downsides. There was a village nearby, and although they'd had no interactions thus far, Aisling was naturally untrusting of strangers, especially around her child.
Naturally Noctis's mother forbade her from going near the village, and Noctis obeyed. But one day while Aisling was out hunting, the village came to them in the form of two kids about Noctis's age. When Noctis spotted them, she immediantly ducked inside the fox den and hid. She'd never interacted with anyone other than her mom before, and was naturally a little scared. But the kits had seen her and soon they crowded the entrance to the fox den, begging for Noctis to come out and play.
Noctis hissed at them to go away, but they only persisted. And they even started coming in, despite Noctis's protests. The kits were mesmerised by the unusual books and trinkets they had in the den, but one was drawn to Noctis's belladona stem. Before Noctis could stop them, they'd eaten the berry. Noctis dragged the poisoned kit outside the den to get some fresh air in their lungs and tried to use her heartrender powers to slow the poison's effect on the body, but slow was all it did. And the extra time allowed for the other kit to run and get their parents.
When the kit returned with half the village in tow, they took in the sight of Noctis standing over the dead kit's body, franticly trying to revive them with her powers, but even though her mother said heartrenders could do anything, Noctis learned the hard way that they could not bring back the dead.
The village-cats immediantly pinned the blame on Noctis and rushed at the witch-kit, pinning her to the ground as Noctis cried and apologized. Then in the blink of an eye, the cat holding Noctis down convulsed and dropped dead. Aisling had arrived to rescue her kit. The villagers cried witches with such hatred in their voices, Noctis was stunned. Aisling managed to scare the villagers away and consoled her child. She had a lot to tell Noctis.
Before this experience, Noctis never knew how hated witches were. She thought it was something to be proud of. That day her happy fantasy that she hadn't even known was a fantasy fell apart. And all that was left... was the cold, hard truth. The villagers would soon be back with greater numbers, so the pair had to flee. This time, there wasn't enough time for Noctis to keep anything from their home. All their books, treasures, and herbs were left behind as they fled into the scarlet night.
From then on, the mother and child duo traveled. Home was a forgotten concept - or rather, home was wherever they were sleeping that night. They met some other wanderers on the road, but Noctis never let her first interaction with strangers escape her mind. Strangers were not to be trusted. She let her mother do the talking. Noctis had no interest. When Noctis turned a year old, Aisling finally decided it was time. Time to teach her child how to kill.
Noctis learned how to burst a heart with the clench of her paw as they practiced on small rodents. They learned to suck the breath out of their lungs and how to silence all connection to the brain. Noctis never enjoyed using her powers to kill, but she acknowledged that that was the world they lived in.
In the following months, the pair actually found another cabin in the woods. And they were in luck - the garden still had good soil. Aisling and Noctis were excited, they could finally settle down again and try to recreate the happiness they had at their first home. But unfortunately for them, a large colony moved into the nearby woods shortly after. They were clearly afraid of the two witch cats living nearby and left them alone. Things were tenuous, but finally, peaceful.
But once again, the universe would not allow them to be happy. They noticed their connection to their powers growing weaker and weaker until one morning, they woke up and they couldn't use it. This spelled danger for them, obviously, but as a scholar, Aisling was thinking more about discoverying what had happened. After scowering many books, Aisling finally infered that their dying world could no longer sustain any forms of traditional magic. It was all gone. And so was almost everything that Noctis felt made her special. At least... she still had her mom.
The duo were asleep when they heard voices coming from outside their home and awoke to loud banging on the walls. The cats from the forest colony were here. "Kill the witches!" they yowled, their voices rising in a deadly chorus. Both Aisling and Noctis were quickly seized, as they were now powerless. They didn't know how the colony cats knew magic had disappeared, but it seemed they were finally ready for a confrontation - knowing now that they could not harm them anymore.
Aisling managed to bargain with their captors - Aisling would die and in exchange they would let Noctis run free. Despite Noctis's protests, the deal was accepted. Several cats had to hold Noctis down as they took a rock and bashed in Aisling's skull. They then chased Noctis away without even letting her say goodbye. Noctis knew the terms of the deal. She knew that if she ran, they would leave her alone. She could travel somewhere else and continue to live her life. But what was her life? Just who was she without her mother?
No, she had to go back. She had to bury Aisling at the very least. Revenge crossed her mind for only a moment before she remembered her mother's words - magic was only to be borrowed, not taken. She could not stoop to using the earth's magic against its will. So she returned, mearly wanting to bury her mother's body.
Noctis had no idea, but right before her mother was killed she broke her own rule in desperation. She would give her life before the rock hit, all so that she could summon a spirit of protection onto her child. And so, Aisling was dead even before she was bludgeoned, and the spirit was awakened to share a body and consciousness with Noctis. However, the spirit was too new to prevent what happened next.
Noctis was spotted by lingering colony cats, and soon the entire mob was upon her again. They dragged her off her mother's corpse and brought her to the edge of a tall cliff. So tall, she couldn't even see the bottom. They held her at the edge of the cliff, spouting nonsense like "if she's really a witch then if we push her she'll sprout wings and fly away, like those damned Seers!'. And so, they did. Noctis remembers plummeting then... nothing. Death attached its icy claws into her and then... retracted. She awoke looking up at a brown tom with a green mask and feeling like every bone in her body had shattered.
The masked cat told Noctis to follow. And having nothing left in her, she did.
Death
Cause of Death: a fall.
They thought she would fly. Or maybe they knew she couldn't - they were cruel that way.
Noctis was pushed over a tall cliff and fell into a deep gorge. She didn't survive the fall, breaking most of the bones in her body.
SOUL CLASS
- Class: BLACK
- Level: 4

This is a space for explaining how your character feels about their soul class. Do they like it, hate it, etc? Does it fit them? Do they have to grow into it?
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
Level One
The User can manipulate small bits of shadow. Shadows cannot be created and must be taken from surroundings and are intangible. Cannot use invisibility yet.
Level Two
The User can now summon bits of shadow. Can start becoming transparent for short periods of time. Can start controlling shadow beings and clones. Shadows can be hard to control, and next to impossible in larger ammounts. Large amounts cannot be summoned. Very difficult to use powers at a distance. Shadows are still intangible and transparency is not fully invisible. The user is able to give a living being in their vicinity terrible dreams.
Level Three
The User can now summon shadows around half their body size and can nearly become completely invisible, and can focus invisibility on single body parts with great focus. Can now use projectiles and manipulate their powers at a distance. Shadow can still be a little tempermental. Invisibility does not last long and they can still be felt and smelled. The user is able issue short commands to another living being and force them to follow through.
Level Four
The User is now able to summon and control shadow up to two times their own body size. Their shadows can become tangible now, but only as long as they aren't being directly looked at. Can become completely invisible to all but other Black Souls. Shadow beasts and weapons become intangible again when looked at. Black souls can still see through invisibility and see them as semi-transparent. The user is now able to summon a spirit to their side and issue short commands, though the spirit retains their free will.
Level Five
The User can now control great amounts of shadow and control them with ease. Shadow beasts can grow to three times the user's body size and can be controlled as long as they are within the user's eye sight. Shadows can grow to massive sizes. The User is now able to make body parts two dimensional: as shadow. Still cannot fully become as a shadow. Now able to bind the spirit, the user can control it with ease. They can even bind it to a body.
Level Six
The User is now a master of Shadow and Invisibility. Nothing is beyond your skill level. The user is now able to fully become as shadow. The user is able to raise the dead, but the effect does not last forever and the being is permanantly corrupted.
Awakened
Upon finding your soul partner, you carry the strength of a whole soul when together. You can feel each other's emotions and speak to them inside your mind, even if you are leagues apart. Lifespan of an awakened cat is greatly expanded and ageing slowed down. You now have - REDACTED. You have mastered the corrupting power of Control. It is your power now.
Corruption
This is a space for explaining how your character is corrupted by their soul class.
Signature Move: Shadow Warg
By using the shadow creatures that Noctis can summon, usually ravens, she can imbue them with her control in order to see through their eyes and control their movements. By seeing through their eyes, Noctis can scout ahead, spy, gain insight, etc all while her body remains stationary from where she cast the shadows.
