Red is an educated man who comes from Avaland, a constitutional monarchy across the sea. His residence in Jollycrown has been funded with the expectation that he establish a university. However, with little demand for higher education in the area, his efforts have only produced a library. The Jollycrown library consists largely of Red's personal esoterica, save for a corner of worn fables and reference guides that are the most popular. Red's attitude towards his situation has grown resentful, but he is too content living off university sponsorship to leave. He is often holed up between the dark shelves, rereading his own books and forming staunch opinions on subjects that no one will ever speak to him about. His interest in the occult is academically distanced, as he finds those who genuinely believe in fae and demons to be simple. However, he will never turn away a good conversation partner, no matter their beliefs.
