about

The youngest child of a family renowned for its presence in the entertainment industry, Taeyoung was guiltily aware from a young age that he wasn't cut out for a life in the spotlight. He much preferred cheering his brother and sisters on, so when his parents suggested that he try out for a junior manager position ("that just opened up, darling, though I had to call in a favor from work...") at their agency, he didn't think twice about agreeing. It was hard, of course, but Taeyoung found to his surprise that the work suited him; in addition, all of his cases seemed managable when compared to the horror stories of his fellow managers. He rose quickly through the ranks, and when the company nominated him as the manager of their new idol group ☆FEVER DREAM☆, he gladly accepted.

personality

Taeyoung is caring, personable, and sentimental - those who first meet him in person tend to come away with the impression that he's too nice for his own good. He believes that a gentle touch brings out the best in people and extends this to everyone he knows, greeting even the support staff by name and asking them about their families. While Taeyoung is humble and even self-depreciating regarding his own feats, he's all warmth when talking about "his" idols, regarding even the most unreasonable personalities with an almost parental ruefulness. He's keen, almost hypersensitive to conflict, and his palpable dismay when faced with fighting makes all but the most insensitive idols keep the peace when he's around (or be made to keep the peace; certain idols and third-parties are very invested in making sure Taeyoung isn't replaced with a different manager) giving him a not undeserved reputation for having a deft interpersonal touch.

With great power comes great responsibility, and no one knows this better than Taeyoung. He stresses out about the audience, the settings, and contacting agents about contracts almost as much as the idols he manages. (He takes a lot of pills for headaches.) Managers of supernatural origin, unlike idols, are fairly uncommon in the industry: plenty of prospective talents that aren't quite human have been assigned to Taeyoung simply to capitalise on their shared heritage, and with them a whole host of corresponding issues.

trivia

  • ☆FEVER DREAM☆ is Taeyoung's first major project, though not his first solo one. He still hasn't quite adjusted to all this responsibility and newfound fame.
  • Taeyoung speaks and writes four languages (English, Korean, Japanese and Mandarin) fluently and is conversational in two (Spanish and Russian). His Korean is slightly worse than the other three, as he was frequently overseas when he was younger and only spoke it when he was talking to his parents and siblings.
  • He has four older siblings - three sisters (including a pair of identical twins) and one brother. All four were idols when they were younger, and have since moved on to different occupations in the entertainment industry, as is tradition. Taeyoung is very friendly with all of them, making time to see them regularly despite his busy schedule.
