Algernon was born (2E 556) and raised in Vvardenfell. His family tree consists mostly of skilled woodworkers, and the art of shaping wood has been a tradition for centuries. The secrets of the profession were also taught to Algernon by his parents, though he never really had a choice in the matter.

Algernon prefers music over woodworking, and uses his skills to create string instruments and teaches himself to play them in his freetime. His father is not happy about his heir spending more time with "the wrong profession" and does not understand his passion.

Algernon has potential as a mage, and has shown interest in sorcery. He holds great power, but is a bit clumsy and is afraid to experiment without a teacher. As a young adult he meets an altmer mage Peitsi, and with his encouragement starts to trust himself more and slowly improves his skills as a budding sorcerer. And a bard.
