A state’s physical appearance is directly connected to the population overall and culture. Depending on where the state is most leaned to, the ‘direct to population’ may be altered to second biggest population.  It isn’t 100% one or another, it will be a mix. The process of change takes about a year. Immortality is a tricky thing. It is influence by the growth of the nation overall, if the nation is over thousand years old but trade/politics/territory is very minimal, growth is very slow or barely even visible. The nation will never rewind in age if sudden loss of trade/politics/territory, affects of those will only cause the state to be injured or cause great distress and exhaustion. As long as there is a government with boundaries with a big enough population that still waves a flag, the state will live. If the state is somehow injured, being a hole blown right through their body, limb cut off, their body is able to heal itself quickly, though it is very painful. During the process of limb reattachment, it is recommended that it is sewn on so the body can easily reconnect. 

There are exceptions: If a state’s body is completely destroyed (ex:explosion and body is just small pieces of flesh, barely anything), a new embodiment may be reborn. The new embodiment will still abide to the physical but like genes from the same parents, they will not look exactly like the original embodiment. The memories from that state is passed onto the other, able to recall history that the embodiment experienced personally without meaning to but has to be relearned some part of the overall history of the nation or state. It is a 75% chance of the new embodiment of suffering from any sort of mental illness the prior had. 

If a state is destroyed, the government disbanded, flag no longer flown, the state will ultimately suffer through the process of becoming human. They will age very very slowly but they can still be killed. 

States are not super-humans, nor are the nations. But they do have an influence when amongst people. The influence being that with a certain tone of voice and direct eye contact with a person (either being human or lower like towns/states) and having an overwhelming dominant feeling over the other that can’t be ignored. This can be used on nations to their states, basically being a reminder of who’s in charge, a reminder of hierarchy amongst the embodiment’s influence. 

Towns and cities don’t have strong of an influence over people, they will be felt as human people. 

States have a much stronger affect, a large collection of states can equal just a minimal feeling of a micro-nation. Providences are a stronger affect than states.

 A power nation can walk into a room and their influence can be felt easily, if not overwhelming for towns. If a state/town has a close relationship with said nation, they will become numb to it over time with constant exposure. 

Though there are exceptions, there can be a very large nation, that has been around for years but has only the same impact as a town does (so very minimal).
