…Yeah, I didn’t get to the mass upload yet. When I had planned to, I got multiple other things suddenly pop up. I don’t know exactly when I’ll do it now, but it will be the near future. I was also trying clean up the WIP folder more for it & just finish up some other organization changes.
I also put up an avatar because I got tired of seeing only the default empty slot for it. It’s probably a temporary choice, as there is something I’d like for an avatar, but I’d have to get it made first.
I don’t usually like to make bulletins so close to each other, but this will be an exception to explain current plans. The loss of my grandmother is still heavily weighing on my mind, as we will be laying her to rest soon. While I will be heavily focused on that, I find myself with some time to kill before I return back to my normal routine.
I’ve said before that I prefer to have a rough idea for characters before posting them. But given that I have a WIP folder with a lot of characters in it already, I’m already considering just doing a mass upload to there, even with characters without names or artwork for.
The reason I bring this up is because I thought I’d gauge people’s thoughts on this before I do. Otherwise I’ll start once I have time to.
I know I’ve not made a bulletin in a while but today merits it. It’s been challenging for the last several years, but today I’ve arguably been given one of the biggest blows in my recent life.
My grandmother, whom I was rather close to, even referring to her as “Nana,” passed away in her sleep. I had know her health was in decline, and had even intended to visit with her before such could happen, but this still hits me hard. Honestly, I don‘t think I could have ever been prepared enough for this…
Yeah I admit I dropped the ball on Mermay, as I got distracted by family & work. But I plan to make it up, because I like the theme of summer rather than just keeping it only to May, especially with my birthday [June 16] being so close to it.
So I plan to do some catching up when I don’t have other things getting in the way. I have to post the OC facts I shared in a server that others didn’t get to see & I promised I would start uploading unnamed characters onto here, so I need to get back onto that.
I’ve also thought about asking about what characters people would like to see more information on and potentially a questionnaire on who people like, at least design wise. I’d appreciate input on that in comments, please. In the mean time, I’ll get around to catching up. Here’s to hoping summer is fun.
Just a brief update here, folks. I got enough feedback from the poll, and I’ve made some decisions from there. I’m going to go ahead and start reorganizing folders and mass uploading characters soon. On the plus side, a percentage of these characters will fit with the theme of Mermay, but as warned before, they may not have names yet.
On the subject of Mermay, I may post some of the bios for merfolk specific characters that I’ve completed. This won’t mean I’ll neglect characters that aren’t merfolk, it’s more just me trying to fit a theme for the most part. Also, while I have not fully decided, I’m considering posting some lore notes. A large portion of it being a work in progress, but it may help flesh out a few things I’m going for with some of my world building.
Additionally, I’ve been working on fixing up some of my authorization lists & such, so to anyone I’ve authorized, you might want to check on if you can view characters you couldn’t see before. Keep in mind, to me, authorization usually means I trust one enough to see certain concepts of characters or images.

Alright, now that April Fools has past, I can post this without this being taken as a joke (because it’s not and I’ve been trying to be nice to people and not pull April Fools jokes given the moodiness I’ve seen among friends).
I don’t usually make too many bulletins on “recent changes” and such, because I always see myself as changing things at an irregular pace (usually due to external factors like my job & other responsibilities). Recently though, with some of the newer characters I’ve gotten, I noticed I’ve been sort of slacking on doing things such as giving them names or even new tags.
I admit I can be a bit lazy on posting bios and such, but I should at least give them names & a few tags. As such, I’ve decided to create a WIP folder for ones already on Toyhouse but I’ve not gotten to flesh out to at least those details.
On that subject as well, I was contemplating whether or not to start uploading other adopts that are stuck in a similar limbo. They haven’t been posted due to the same issues as before, my day job and other tasks, but I intend to still use and create a profile for them. I just wasn’t sure if other people were alright with that, given all the characters I haven’t finished.
Finally, I was also contemplating something I was reluctant to do, if only because I have issues with how I’ll appear from it. I’ve seen friends create “Personal favorites” folders for the OC’s of their own roster, and I had thought about trying something like that. My issue is though I’ve tried to avoid favoriting my own characters if only because I was worried it makes me look selfish. I actually try to care about all of my roster, but I won’t deny that I can accidentally play favorites. I could be just looking too deeply into things, but I thought about at least bringing it up with these other changes.

Should I start creating subfolders for each group?
It’s been quite a while since I’ve done one of these. Between the holidays, work, and other things like fighting colds & family issues I’d prefer not to discuss here, things have flown by. But I’m not done here anytime soon. I’d say I’m close to having most of OC collection up, but I still have a fair chunk left. (It’s hard for me to guess percentage or estimate wise but if really want me to answer that, I’ll explain elsewhere.)
Recently when I reviewed what was left and compared it to all the folders I have, I was sort of struck with an issue I can’t really decide the answer to: Subfolders. I had been trying to be a tad broad with groups like merfolk, with cecaelia being an exception just as a personal preference. However, I can see that a number of some groups could further divided into sub-groups/folders for classification reasons if I wanted. (E.G. Merfolk having subfolders for groups such “Traditional Mers,” “Sharks & Dolphins,” “Jellyfish mers,” “Cecaelia,” “Deep Sea Merfolk,” etc.)
Normally I like to have what I want displayed in easy reach for everyone, but I wanted to gauge people’s opinions on that before deciding what to do. If you got any tips for that, feel free to say so in the comments.

I had planned to post a lot of stuff during May, some of it MerMay related, but unfortunately I had caught Covid and I’ve spent a lot of the past month resting because of the fatigue it caused.
I intend however to continue regular uploads later in the upcoming week or two, pending some work I have to. I just hope my birthday (June 16th) doesn’t end up this badly either.
Additionally, I’m looking into a few characters and whether or not to repurpose them or something else. I’ve had some uncertainties on the characters in question and what to do with them, so I’ll need to give it some thought.
