Peppermint loves Hornetkit dearly, and can’t bring herself to understand why Turtlestar would treat him and Owlkit in such a way. Taking it upon herself to be his mother figure, she wouldn’t hesitate to defend him if anything were to happen between him and his birth mother.
Peppermint feels bad for Owlkit, and wishes he wasn’t made fun of all the time by the other kits and apprentices. Like Hornetkit, she would do everything in her power to ensure his safety.
Owlkit loves his auntie, and wishes Turtlestar could be as nice as her. He’s also glad that she’s one of the few cats who don’t make fun of him, and has grown close enough to Peppermint to call her “mommy” instead.
Owlkit gets on Mudpuddle’s nerves, and while her deteriorating mental state has taken a toll on her, she refuses wholeheartedly refuses to mentor an apprentice of her own, especially Owlkit, due to him being the child of Turtlestar, purposely avoiding him.
Owlkit doesn’t understand why Mudpuddle keeps ignoring him and pushing him away, unable to thoroughly understand the amount of stress that had been piling onto her. He wishes to train under her, but he isn’t sure how to with how aggressive she’s become.
