"She needs to let go of.. Well, whatever she's worried about! It's rather uncouth, is it not?"
"A spoiled rich boy. I don't think I'll ever get used to him."
"A girl who knows how to have a good time. I enjoy my time spent with the Violette family."
"A curious little thing, that Lord Amor. I admire his eye for business opportunities, but he plays too coy for my tastes."
"Ah, my sister. She's quite the dancer, and quite the entrepreneur. I'll admit, I wouldn't be where I am without her help! She knows how important she is to me, so what more is there to say, eh?"
"My annoying little street rat brother. He'd had starved long ago if it weren't for me. How ironic that I play his 'assistant' now, when he was always the one clinging to me..."
"Such strange, grand attire the investigator wears. I find it so peculiar for her work! And yet, all the same, I'm very quietly intrigued. Fashion aside, I do wish she would be more careful...and not so quiet. The girl has a sweet voice."
"Eira is quite kind and capable - she seems to run most of her church's activities. I quite admire her ability to manage so many things at once! Yes, I find her presence to be quite enjoyable, and I'm rather happy she chose to join us on this journey."
“I don’t know you.” Clowners’s memories of humanity are scarce at best and tragic at worse. He refuses to dwell on it, save for the few drunken times he opens his mouth about the person he used to be. After living for so long, Clowners simply sees himself as a different being - and he sees this human as dead.
“Pandora is intelligent. I do not enjoy her company.” Neo believes in Pandora’s intelligence and plans, but refuses to give her any part of himself, finding her interest in him both strange and uncomfortable. He’s simply lucky she seems to recognize and back off most of the time.
"A truly fascinating creature. I have not a single clue how Malistare pulled this off, but it's something for the history books." Pandora is, originally, the only person that knows where Neo comes from, due to her studies. However, she doesn't tell a single soul, per his request. She still finds him fascinating, however, and much to his displeasure will try to study him whenever possible.
"Ash needs to calm down. If he actually accepted himself, he'd probably feel a lot better.. huh? 'What do I mean by that'? Uh... you know, like his flaws and shit."
"Marco is a great teammate and a loyal friend. ...Why are you looking at me like that? I have nothing else to say."
"Really, I wish you'd just listen to a single word I have to say before calling me names. You ought to learn some manners before someone douses you, pyromancer."
eze is so annoying sometimes lol
"Oh, that guy? God, he's so uptight. He thinks just because he was born as a high elf, I should just get down and kiss the ground he walks on. Screw you."
"...He's a capable leader, sure. I just wish he did not look at each of us with hidden distrust - especially my partner. How can we be united like that?"
“An extremely capable theurgist, one who our team would be lost without. I simply wish he was able to look at the good of the team - of the WORLD - rather than… Well, the good of one person.”
"Aw, yeah, that guy's sick as fuck! Pyromancers are the best. Especially in bed."
"Aha, Raina is great! She's like the only one that can keep up with me in drinks! She always keeps me energized."
"...Pandora...I promise, I won't leave too. I'm...I'm here for you. Why...don't you tell me more about that legend from before?"
Pandora is Autumn's first true confidant and the two grow ever closer in Raina's absence. Autumn often eavesdrops when she's between naps, but Pandora's voice quickly becomes her favorite to hear out of all others in the group. The conjurer is kind, thoughtful, and incredibly smart. When the two start spending more alone time together, they both begin to coax out better versions of each other. Pandora teaches Autumn how to be true to herself rather than just living as "Ash's twin", while Autumn teaches Pandora to take care of herself better in regards to her health. It is not long until Autumn's dorm is covered wall to wall in Pandora's gifted artwork and stories, nor is it long until she realizes she is absolutely smitten with the girl.
"Did I worry you again..? I'm sorry. I really will be okay. I'll make sure I'm okay for you." After the heartbreaking fight and split that came from Raina's betrayal, Pandora found herself in worsening health. And more importantly, Pandora did not care to fix that health - what was the point, anyway? Her only friend, her best friend, had turned on her, had not found her worthy enough of sticking by. Everyone was far too busy to notice the agony she was in... well, ALMOST everyone. Autumn made an effort to check on her, and Pandora took quick notice to this. Though afraid to open up again at first, she slowly started talking to the sleepy girl, learning more about her beyond what Ash spoke of his sister. In fact, she believed the girl to be much more than simply an attachment to Ash - finding the few words she spoke to be captivating. Pandora realized extremely quickly that she was falling for Autumn, but unable to express this at all, she turned to giving the girl as many gifts as possible, and sticking by her side. She simply hoped she would gain the courage one day to fully trust again - to trust Autumn and tell her how much she loved her.
"Mmm, that brat? He can be a pain in my ass, but I guess he's alright."
To call Jasper and Eclipse's relationship complicated would be an understatement. On the outside, (and maybe even the inside), Jasper seems to lack any patience for Eclipse. Deep down, however, he holds some kind of affection for him. He's not quite sure why, but he doesn't seem quite able to get rid of him, and he's not certain he wants to. Even though Eclipse is constantly getting on his nerves and seems to know all the ways to push his buttons, he can't help but be reminded of someone else; someone comforting. In a way, even if he'd never admit it, there's something nice about having someone who knows how to make him feel vulnerable. However, that same feeling only further drives Jasper's hatred of Eclipse.
"Haha, Jasper? He's a lot of fun - especially when he's mad. And have you SEEN him, I mean.. wow."
Eclipse and Jasper have a complicated relationship - even to Eclipse. Eclipse would be the first to admit Jasper is attractive - that's just a known fact. But beyond that, Eclipse seems to struggle to place his own feelings and wants. He's had plenty of partners in the past, but none have been quite like Jasper - none have made him want something more quite like Jasper. And while part of that scares him, the other part - the obsessive, constantly self-indulging part - wants to continue that chase. There's something about Jasper that Eclipse simply can't resist.
"Can you stop trying to kill yourself? Your death only gives me, like, 22 years here."
"I summoned him to kill me, but all he does is drink and complain. He's a horrible familiar."
"I hope one day you are able to let down your guard and show the world that whatever has happened to you...You are stronger than it."
Ezekiel and Neo's partnership was of no random chance. It is quite apparent to Neo from the start that the Headmaster assigned his star pupil to Neo as a form of surveillance, though Ezekiel himself is not aware of this until much later. In spite of the hidden motives involved with their meeting, the theurgist and necromancer become fast companions as Ezekiel finds himself enchanted with the mysterious, pale, and short boy he calls a partner. Perhaps Ezekiel's own earnest and sincere charm is what coaxed out the more vulnerable parts of Neo. The two soon find themselves entangled with feelings difficult to express. Ezekiel knows what he wants after just a few weeks - he wants Neo, he's fallen *hard*, and yet he feels utterly hopeless at his chances. For how could the necromancer love him back when he did not even understand what love was? And worse, could Ezekiel handle bearing his heart again to someone, knowing death could steal them away at a moment's notice?
“Despite the way we came together.. I think it is the best thing to ever happen to me.” At first, Neo hated the idea of teaming up with someone else. After all, he worked better alone - he worked better without any human (or elf, in this case) getting in his way. With his lack of communication skills and understanding of emotion, he tended to either scare off or hurt others, and couldn’t find enough empathy to care to learn otherwise. But with Ezekiel.. everything seemed to change with him. The elf makes him feel things he never thought he COULD feel, and he’s struggling to put names those feelings.
"What's with the fucking attitude? You didn't need me anyways, right? Raina the fuck-up, always holding you guys back, so what's the big fucking deal?!...P-Pandora, wait, don't...don't cry..."
Raina and Pandora might be the strangest pair out of the heroes, because even Timber and Marco have more personality in common than they do. And yet they work together surprisingly well, with Pandora handling the logistics and strategy while Raina serves destructive damage to their enemies with (relative) ease. To Raina, Pandora is like a little sister and she makes it very well known in her remarks about how Pandora should listen to her more, since she's (definitely) older and wiser! But their relationship is torn when Raina decides to betray the group in order to pursue her deepest goal of Spiral-wide fame, and ends up shutting Pandora out. When she finally returns after a reconciliation with her ex girlfriend, Raina is stunned to find a much colder Pandora than she expected. Every attempt she tries to make to mend their relationship ends up getting screwed up by that damn sleepy little brat that replaced her! Honestly, after all the fuck ups Raina made, she soon came to realize that her biggest regret was hurting Pandora the way she did. Would she ever be able to make it up to her?
"Thank you for bringing me out of my shell. However, I despise you for everything that happened afterwards." When first paired up with Raina, Pandora was deeply concerned - the two were opposites in every way, and the loudmouthed Raina originally seemed like nothing but a nuisance to the studious Pandora. Despite that, Pandora found comfort in the constant noise, and learned a lot from Raina - how to talk louder, how to be more confident, how to trust again. Tragically, the most important lesson she learned from her partnership with Raina Tempestas was how to save the world despite your best friend making you want to watch it burn. With time, maybe, she could learn to forgive Raina. But right now, whenever she looks at her joyous, so called 'best friend', she remembers the searing pain of her betrayal, and fears it happening all over again.
"Huh...? Uh, I dunno...Ask my brother, he knows better than me..."
Autumn loves Ash more than anything, and admires his courage on a deep level. And yet also, deeply, she finds herself at odds with him in her mind. Because while they are twins, they don't always agree on everything. But Autumn lacks the courage to stand her ground, especially after the long lasting effects her kidnapping had on her. The issue they will never be on the same page is their mother - Autumn's kidnapper - and just how good or bad of a mother she was. Autumn has grown complacent with Ash leading her actions and speaking for her, even if he doesn't actually know everything that he thinks he does about her. In this comfort, Autumn has lost herself and lives more like an extension of Ash rather than as her own person. It's wrong, but...it's just so much easier to leave everything to people better than her.
"My closest companion and forever friend, I'd help you bury as many bodies as you wish. You are my warmth, and I'll be damned if I let any cop take that away."
"Timber's my ride or die. I'm Timber's ride or die. Get in our way or hurt them and I'll make sure you die, got it?"
"Annoying, dramatic, attention-seeking, pitiful, loud-mouthed, demonic, above all a complete nuisance. And, also, my best friend."
"Cupid needs to loosen up a little! I mean, seriously, I think the first words I uttered to them were, like, 'we don't have to fight', and they just ATTACKED me! I've deadass got a parole officer for a bestie, but that's what makes it fun. I wouldn't have it any other way."
