TERMONOLOGY NOTES:
*BROODMARES
- Broodmare = A mare 6 years of age or older used primarily for breeding purposes
- Private Broodmare = A broodmare not available for public use
- Lineaged Broodmare = A mare kept back due to lineage for breeding purposes
- Recip Mare = A mare 12 years or older who has successfully carried and delivered her own foals, now used for carrying and delivering other mares foals
*MARES
- Future Broodmare = A mare who is a broodmare prospect / who will go on to become a future broodmare
- Working Mare = A mare who will more than likely never retire to brood, but rather will have her offspring carried by a recip mare instead
*STALLIONS
- Stud = A stallion primarily used for breeding purposes
- Stud Colt = A colt who will be kept as a stallion / stud upon maturity
- Public Stud = A stud who is available for public breeding
- Private Stud = A stud who is NOT available for public breeding
