- both human settlement and clowder live in a some town ruins in the shortgrass prairie

- humans farm hemp, wheat, and corn primarily, other crops grown to a smaller degree

- cats live with the humans, act as messengers for them

- the human settlement was founded by descendants of ancient lorekeepers known as 'librarians' and 'historians', and thus highly value information

- a massive library was one of the only buildings that was intact and not used for materials in the old town, is upkept by members of the humans settlement

- cats have names that they were given by their parents, and the name they are called by humans

- humans name the cats after plants, and typically only get them to deliver letters that correlate with the plant's symbolic meaning
