The Founding of Equestria

Long before Equestria was born, there were three tribes: the pegasi, unicorns, and earth ponies; however, they soon fell into troubled times. The pegasi, working long hours to take care of the weather, demanded food from the earth ponies that only they could grow. The earth ponies also demanded that, in return, the unicorns must magically bring forth the day and night, but it was not an easy task. Amidst their fighting, a blizzard overtook their lands.

The blizzard destroyed their crops, leading to a meeting between the three leaders of the tribes, but it was useless. They continued to fight; then, they all stormed out and began searching for new land to claim. The blizzard followed, so everything the ponies came across was soon covered in ice and snow. After a short while, the assistants of the leaders discovered what was causing this dreadful weather and feeding off their hate for each other: the Wendigos. Together, the assistants created the Fire of Friendship, melting their leaders' frozen bodies and the land around them.

This led to the leaders choosing to join together in founding the country of Equestria.
