Initially likes that he seems the only person able to get Zeph flustered and annoyed, and joins him in the teasing. But really, who is this guy, to be able to get to Zephyr this much? This question keeps her on guard when it comes to trusting him.
Eventually relaxes around him when Aiden opens up to her.
Immediately gets along with Weps, but can sense she's not to be messed with. With other people around, they try hard to out-sass the other, but when alone they find each other surprisingly easy to talk with.
Slightly intimidated by Aiden, but mostly impressed. Loves the people and atmosphere of the circus.
Pleasantly surprised to see Spaits hanging around Zephyr. Loves Spaits' enthousiasm and weeing how well he gets along with the troupe. Aiden enjoys showing off for Spaits. (And in the process, also showing off for Zephyr while remaining nonchalant toward him.)
'Why do you work so hard to show off to and entertain the people that made our life worse?' Aiden makes him confront the fact that he may not have abandoned his past as much as he thinks. Initilly annoyed by this. But also silently impressed by what Aiden has achieved and how he brings youths like them in the past together, and takes them under his wing. When he eventually starts seeing this is the point of the circus, he warms up to Aiden, and they start to connect again.
Estranged childhood friends. Both rejected 'normal', rich lifestyles after a childhood of unfairness and poverty, but in different ways. They don't quite understand each other's choices in this regard.
Being ooh'd and ahh'd at by the richer folks gives him a feeling of power over them that serves as vindication. 'Why dwell on the past? See how they look at me now?'
Zephyr has fun teasing and messing with Harley a bit from time to time, but wouldn't want to truly upset her, because he can see she really cares. Her sympathy and need to talk can make him a bit uncomfortable, because of his tendency to just hide any serious feelings.
Finds Zephyr a bit intimidating, but at the same time feels some sympathy for him never having known a loving home. She encourages him to talk to her, but without much success.
Spaits is excited to learn Harley has read a lot of the same books he has. He wants her to join the quest, but is confused as to why she's so hesitant. She likes the adventure stories too, why wouldn't she want to join?
Harley bonds with Spaits over their shared interest in tales of adventures and discovery. She's quite envious of how easily Spaits left his life behind to see the world and whishes it felt as simple for her.
Weps finds Harley very comforting and easy to talk with, and sometimes joins her to collect flowers. Days where they just hang out and talk until late into the night are her favourite.
As one of the only people in town who are not intimidated by Weps at all, Harley loves to hang out and talk with her. She admires her past of traveling and adventuring. She loves giving giving flowers to her too; she secretly enjoys seeing how Weps gets flustered but tries to hide it.
My big brother is so cool! I wish he would play with me more though..
I love my little sister, but her excitability can make her a handful sometimes.
Spaits loves to be around Weps. She's great at listening to all his stories and fantasies. He knows she has some experience with travelling the world, but somehow she's doesn't seem to think it's as cool as he does.
Weps thinks Spaits is a sweet kid, and enjoys seeing his wonder and excitement about everything. How much he admires her past tends to make her feel a little uncomfortable though.
Doesn't quite understand what makes Weps tick. He knows about her past of adventuring, and doesn't understand what makes her want to stay in one place living a 'boring, normal' life now.
Weps finds it hard to understand Zephyr's way of thinking, and thinks he's rather immoral and ungrateful.
Isn't too sure about the whole stealing thing, but still thinks Zephyr is pretty cool and looks up to his 'adventurous ways' of living and going wherever he pleases.
Surprinsignly unbothered by Spaits' antics. Pretends he doesn't understand what Spaits finds so attractive about living out on the street, but secretly enjoys the admiration a lot.
