Always greatly admired Arya's work ethic and talent. Felt partly responsible for his departure, and was overjoyed to see him come back. Had a hard time getting him to play games or try out new things, and they were hardly capable of joining him in training, so they often brought water or snacks out to him.
Initially disliked them, and partly blamed them for their trainer's retirement. Thought they were weak-willed and a bad influence at first, but slowly saw how much effort and dedication they put in, even if it looked different to how he usually measures such things. Eventually discovered that the two of them are both performers at heart, and now support one another.
As the other monsterfox on the team, June took a natural interest to him first after Fenn, plus he smelled good! Loves hanging out with him and his magnetic personality, but hates it when he accidentally transforms and Arya goes on about how strong he'd be if he could control it. Also, he thinks all the various trinkets and books Arya collects are really cool, and wishes he'd let him see it more often.
Recognizes him as uniquely talented with a lot of latent potential, but is frustrated at his apparent lack of interest in developing any of it. Would love to take him as a student to work on it (and perhaps keep that mischievous streak of his in check with exercise and discipline) as he very much enjoys his company and would like to see him grow. If he tries to take off with his stick again though, he's dead.
"Arrogant. Narrow-minded. Loud. Not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. He thinks he can just brute-force and pep talk his way through everything. And he has the gall to call ME stubborn..."
...Fenn's the only one that gets to act like that to him, though, because all in all Arya is still as close to him as a little brother that he butts heads with sometimes. He admires the Phox's warm and supportive nature, as well as his dedication and passion.
"Also you're NOT 6 feet tall. You're not even 5 feet tall! Ears don't count!"
"Lazy. Brash. Cowardly. I can't believe we grew up together and somehow he thinks that running away and avoiding his problems is any way to deal with them. Doesn't know what to do with himself yet insists that I have to stop trying to get him and the others to work on themselves? And he thinks he can call ME stubborn?"
...Though if anyone was that way to Fenn, they'd soon have a staff tapping against their shoulder in a (gently threatening) reminder that the Zoroark was like a big brother to him, and that he just wants to see him be the best he can be. Sure he's brilliantly clever and all that, but under that prickly front is the deeply caring, bleeding heart that he's trying to get to.
"Maybe if you stood up straight for once you wouldn't be so insecure about my height, you big lummox."
Although Fenn would kill and die for any of his found family, June brings out a special kind of protectiveness. Since June grew up somewhat sheltered and wants to see the world, he's brought it upon himself to make sure he gets to experience life and discover himself with plenty of support and without danger...if he lets him out of the mane, anyway. Paradoxically feels that the Zorua can be a bad influence on him and gets him into his old mischievous ways every now and then.
The first person he warmed up to, and for a while the /only/ one he warmed up to. Usually seen peeking his nose out of Fenn's mane or nearby the Zoroark (if he's not out getting in to trouble,) June sees him as the close friend and safety net he never had, and as what probably keeps him from getting killed half the time. Would love to repay him and get him to loosen up and enjoy life as well.
