At the age of 11 moons, Fallenmask sneaks off to speak with Starclan to make sure that his dead elder friend, Winterlight, is not being tormented by them. Of course, he has to sneak off on his own despite being forbidden from doing so. Not knowing how to navigate the dangerous Dark Thicket, he gets attacked by a wolf, but he still ends up speaking to Starclan. Finally his fears and beliefs of Starclan being a malevolent, evil force can be put to rest as he meets his old friend once again.
