HQ-THREAD-HUB's Bulletins

Closing Group Down

Posted 5 months, 9 days ago by HQ-THREAD-HUB

Okay!

Despite not really wanting to close this group, we are going to go ahead and do so. In all honesty, so many people are so conflicting on what they want, people that are now upset about how things have been run for years, are a lot of the same people that wanted us to be stricter with the quality in the first place. We can just no longer keep up with what you all want. We have received messages asking us to please keep this group open, and, while we were planning on doing so. We have decided that all the other issues and hate from the people that are sending it, is...just not worth our sanity's, or individual health's.

I want to end this message by saying, we really do appreciate the people that messaged us with kind words and wishes to keep the group going, who over the years participated and enjoyed the thread for what it was meant for and understood the rules and quality for what they were for. Who did not go out of their way to try and make it about something it never was. So, we appreciate you all. Thank you, and we wish you all well.

If anyone wishes to re-make any of these threads, you are more than welcome to. I know some of you expressed interest in doing so. Please feel free to go for it. I wish your threads both happiness and fun, and sincerely hope that your threads do well.

With the best wishes and regards,

The Thread Mods!

In light of the recent situations

Should the group stay as is, or change?

3 Votes Keep it rated as it is
47 Votes Remove quality ratings all together

Do you on a whole as participants in this group wish to see it continue as is? Or would you like the quality rules to simply be abolished?

I would like your opinions, or thoughts on all of this, as the group has tried so hard for the last few years to keep up with what everyone wants as best as we possibly can. By ideals, thoughts and so on are constantly changing. So please, fill free to post here what you think or would like.

I will be posting a poll, it will not be anon, just to make sure people that are being malicious can not purposely spam it with negativity. I want honest answers.

Here is the following information from the threads themselves:

Good morning/afternoon to our users that use our threads. As some of you may or may not be aware of, we have recently had a service review posted on us in regard to this group and how the rated threads are run.

So, I am going to post this in all threads, so everyone is aware of what is going on, as I have already had some post to this group by concerned users.

The thread in question is here: HQ-Thread-Hub & Art Shaming on Toyhouse

As you can see by the title, a large part of what this thread seems to be about is people being disgruntled by how the group is run, and that is fine. Everyone has a right to express how they feel on things. I am posting this so people can be aware of the situation. I know on more then one occasion, mods have had to let people know that a character does not fit in a thread based on the quality of the art or design. As far as the skill level addition in recent months, this was added as a hopes of it helping people understand more of what the threads look for to help lessen the confusion or strain on those playing. As we have mentioned in our other posts, art is subjective, and we do understand that makes it very difficult to keep rated thread fair for all players. Though we do try our hardest to do so. We have had so many users that find it unfair when we dont step in and instantly go ' no' this is not HQ/MQ. Just as much as we have had people that don't want us stepping in at all.

In most cases, those that get flagged as inappropriate for the HQ threads, largely has to do with anatomy being off, clothing being off, or shading being off.

To use the example that the other thread is using, just to keep this consistent:

This image is flagged as inappropriate because of the following reasons:

If you look around the lines, there is a lot blurriness and pixelation issues due to the image having been blown up at one point, or saved as a low resolution image, the other reasons for it not being acceptable in the HQ threads is there is a lot anatomy issues in the arms, the legs, the hands and so on, even taking in account the chibi nature.  Added to this is the fact that the clothing lines do not follow the body, and are in various places they should not be. Along with the shading looking hastily put together. The overall design itself is very cute, and has a lot of elements to it, but the overall anatomy, pixelation and so on is where the issue is.

On the otherside of this,

This image is considered acceptable for the following reasons:

Clear concise lines, no pixelation, well placed clothing lines and shading.

This is what we mean by proficient skill levels and art quality in the HQ threads. There is a vast difference between the two in that manner. We are not bashing anyone's art, we are merely trying to keep this thread as fair as we possibly can, by assuring everyone is at least getting something in similar quality to what they put in. We have people that put in characters worth $100 here at times, and while that is a rare case, to get back something that looks rushed, even if it was by no means rushed, is very disheartening for those that follow the rules and actually take the time to read them and look at the examples before participating in these threads.

Not once has a mod told a person their art is disgusting, gross, ect. We do understand it is not easy being told a character or art you worked hard on may not pass for one of the rated threads, as artists ourselves we have been through that as well. But, how is it fair for people to put in one thing and get another? There is always two sides of the coins when it comes to rated threads, and I understand that they are not for everyone.

Though we do try our hardest to keep it as fair as possible for all users, there will always be those that will think it is not. Whether its based on something not being accepted, or on the other hand where someone things what is being accepted is not good enough.

If you would like to weigh in on this matter or have thoughts or suggestions, you can do so here: HQ-THREAD-HUB on Toyhouse

Thank you all for your time.

Username:

Thread you where coming from:

Your in thread form specifics: ( Aka - Gore, nsfw, phobias/health concern )

Any extras: ( Extras are never guaranteed, but if it is something a mod or the group has we will try to fill it. )

Character fills can take awhile depending on the quality rating of the thread you are coming from. Please be aware that we do our best, but may not be able to always fill a form in a timely manner, and may have to move around from form to form.

Once a form is filled with a character: The group or a mod will remove the post at that time.

We are also ALWAYS looking for donations, and artist to improve characters we have in storage from LQ to MQ, or MQ to HQ. Please contact us first before donating art, as each group does have art specifics in terms of quality.  We apologize for the inconvenience on the art front. But for characters you are welcome to donate straight to the group at any time.

Quality Rated Threads and You

Posted 2 years, 4 months ago by HQ-THREAD-HUB

I think it's about time this gets posted. Especially when we keep having people being so divided in different areas of this. So, I am going to break somethings down, as well as explain some of what the mods have been having to deal with. Because I think it's important for people to see this, or at least be aware of it.

First off, there has always been tension around rated threads, for one reason or another, a lot of times we have found it has to do with a lack of structure and how they are handled. This was a large reason why these threads where remade. As the past threads where not as structured and where more loosely allowed to run based on who thought what was, what quality.  As you can imagine, this caused a LOT of issues. The mods were getting somewhere between 10- 30 + messages PER DAY at times, almost per mod, in complaints. Thats was roughly around 60 or so messages at times a day.  Because people could not agree on what was, what quality.

So, as a group it was decided we would set a firmer guideline on what qualified for what quality in which thread.

This is not an easy task, as art and quality can be very subjective. Essentially, we were having to put quality into a certain bases to keep things fair for all participants.

The new threads were made up, the guidelines set, and overall, the new layout of the rated threads DRASTICALLY cut back the issues. Whereas we were having about 60-80% issues in the old threads, we are now down to about 10-20%. That is a huge drop, and overall, it rarely even reaches 10%.

Now at the start of things we were stepping in a bit more often to make sure rules/quality was being followed, but we kept running into an issue where many people wanted a certain adopt, regardless of quality or rules. So, it was decided that in order to make things run smoother and make people overall happier with how things where run, that the participants would have to start taking a bit more responsibility for themselves. In such: If you accepted a character that did not follow the rules or quality control of the threads, you could not put it back into the thread. This was tremendous, it cut back on even more issues, and was well recieved. Mods where stepping in less, and people were feeling less constrained by our attempts to help, as they now had more control over how they participated within the threads. All while understanding that their actions had consequences, but it was the user's choice and most people where much happier like this, as given evidence by the mods having far less complaints sent to us.

We decided to keep this implemented as it has worked the best for the threads and how they work.

This leads me to this next part:

No matter how hard we try to make things fair, someone is always going to think it's not. We have about 10% of participants that want the mods to control every aspect and constantly get after people about quality, and who do not want to take responsibility for their own actions. On the other hand of this, we have another 10% who still feel like the mods are still too active in threads and shouldn't be doing what we are currently. Aka posting reminders in threads, contacting when we see people who constantly break rules/quality, ect.

These 20% are usually where we have the most issues. Because no matter what we do, it's never good enough for them, and we realize we cannot make everyone happy, nor should anyone strive to. It would be a maddening endeavor. But I feel like it is very important that people realize this: We are people behind a screen, not robots. We are not perfect, and we ask that you stop asking us to be, just as we do not ask you to be perfect. We understand mistakes happen, and that people can forget things at times. It is part of the reason why our threads do not outright ban/block someone, unless what they have done is unforgivable.

We do try to give people chances.

To a point.

Let me clarify this: If a mod contacts you, but you never respond to them, you never make an effort to work with them, or you never send a character that follows thread rules, or quality, or if you harass a user, a mod, or start cussing out the mods or a user, you will be banned. And if the situation is grave enough, blocked.

Soft bans can be unbanned. Aka sending a character.

Hard bans cannot be unbanned. Aka harassing a user or mod/consistently arguing and never sending anything/outright refusing to send anything, ect.

We genuinely prefer to not ban someone, and if we have to, we would much rather it be a temp timed ban [ due to failing to follow rules multiple times/quality] or a soft ban that can be removed by fulfilling your part in the thread.

Moving on to this next part. Please be aware right away that this and none of this post is aimed at any one person. This is a compilation of things we get a lot of when we have issues.

When people complain or get annoyed with the mods, these are the things we usually here:

"Well I think its quality"

"Art is subjective!!"

"Well I asked others and they said it was MQ/HQ"

"Well thats up to the other person and not you."

So let me answer these as best I can, right here.

Well I think its quality. - While we understand each person's idea of quality will be different, there is a reason why we provide examples to follow. In order to keep the threads fair for the players on a whole, a set quality has to be followed. Or it's just not fair to those that ARE following it.

Art is Subjective!! - Yes, it is. But again, this comes down to having to follow a certain SET of quality in a RATED thread, in order for it to be fair for those that are. It's not nice to put in something that meets the quality shown in thread, only to be given something that is nowhere near what was given.

Well I asked others and they said it was MQ/HQ - I cannot tell you how often we hear this one, and to be honest, it just comes off as people wanting to feel like they are in the right or be vindicated. Don't get me wrong, I can understand that. But this comes down to a few things. One, the people you asked are not the ones moderating these threads, so they are not specifically situated to follow SPECIFIC guidelines/qualities. Two, what may be MQ/HQ to your friends or others, may only be like that because they are not getting the full story, or are feeling sympathetic. Three, we have rules to follow, and that means following what is posted in the thread. We are a RATED quality thread. If you do not like rated quality threads, do not participate. It is really that simple. Just don't. It will save you from feeling stressed, and it will save the mods from feeling frustrated. No one, and I mean NO ONE is forcing you to come into a rated thread [ not just ours] and participate in them. There are plenty of unrated threads on TH.

Well thats up to the other person and not you - This one is just incredibly rude to the mods. The mods literally will not jump into a situation for no reason. If they have contacted you, it's for a reason.

All this said I hope if nothing else it may give some insight to some of what we deal with. And WHY we handle some of the things the way we do.

And I just want to say thank you so much for all those people too that have been kind to the mods, who have said thank you for stepping in, and who appreciate the help we have offered. We really do appreciate it, and honestly, I think that's what keeps some of us going, after dealing with such frustrating situations and sometimes downright rude people. So, thank you.

If you post comments here, please keep them civil, no arguing, fighting or being rude. If it becomes an issue this bulletin will be removed.

[I am aware there are errors in this. It is very late where I am, and I am tired, but, seeing things like this happen was becoming disheartening and I felt it really needed to be posted. Hopefully it makes sense. ]
